Are you doing a 'father-daughter' dance? If so, with who?
My grandfather is walking me down the isle but I do not think that he is really up for a dance (he's 86). I don't really want to dance with my brother.
Who is not doing the dance? If you are, with who?

Re: for girls who's fathers passed away...
My dad passed away in March and it has been very emotional for me thinking about who would walk me down the aisle and the father/daughter dance. My grandfather is going to walk me down the aisle and I will dance with him but I'm not sure what song yet.
You need to do what will be good for you. Its a really hard decision to make b/c the person you want isn't here. If you're not comfortable dancing with somebody else, then you don't have to have that dance. I hope everything works out.

My father passed away in April very suddenly. He was so happy I was getting married and so excited for the whole event. I can't imagine it without him but I am going to go on for him.
I plan to have my mom walk me down the aisle. I'm not extremely close to my brother so I think this would be more appropriate. I'm having a memorial candle and part of the ceremony dedicated to him. I am wrapping my bouquet in his hankerchief and having a picture of him tied to my bouqet.
I plan on moving the memorial candle to a small table with some pictures of him near our table and having it burn all night so he's there with us.
I don't want to dance with anyone but him. I wanted that moment more than anything. I am honestly not sure what we'll do regarding this.....
My favors are in honor of him (diabetes and heart associations)...
Good luck girls. I am so sorry for all of our loses.
Those are such wonderful ideas to keep your father with you on your wedding day! Sorry for your loss
And to all the girls who posted

My dad passed when I was 3 so my mom has been mom & dad. She'll be walking me down the aisle and dancing with me.

Re: for girls who's fathers passed away...
My dad passed away in 93. My sister got married in 96. Although back then there weren't as many moms walking their daughters done the aisle she did it and she danced with my mom.
The idea behind the walking down the aisle is giving you away. They way I see it your mom raised you just as much as your dad. She is still giving you away.
Obviously nothing can replace the bond between a father and daughter, but if you are close with your mom, nothing can replace that either.
For me, mom down the aisle and mom dancing with me.

I am so sorry for my LIW girls whose moms and dads have passed on before their weddings. I'm sure that this day will be very emotional for you, but I believe your loved ones are watching you and they will def. be with you in spirit. You are all beautiful girls and i'm sure your parents are looking down on you and are proud of you

My father passed away in March I was suppose to get married in August but my emotions were crazy so I postponed it to May of 2008. My mom is walking me down the aisle and I will be dancing with her.
