for girls with naturally curly hair who wear it curly

Who does your hair? Whose doing it for the wedding?
I've tried tons of places before I found Devachan -- a wonderful salon for curly haired girls, but very expensive! My stylist there is the only one who has done my hair for 5 years, and does not do weddings, and would not travel to LI. He did recommend someone else at the salon, but it is really expensive for her to travel. So, I'm looking for someone who knows how to work with naturally curly hair, and who will not want to straighten it, or make me look like I did at my prom in the early 90's! Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

I have extremely CURLY HAIR and my hair stylist does wonderous things! Her name is Christine and the salon is called Head Rush...516-280-5797. She will travel to you for your wedding day!

Here is a picture when she styled it curly for me (not a trial or anything). The curly picture is from awhile back...my hair is much longer now!

Another picture is my blow out and last is my up-do. She also does makeup...see all my photos in my hair trial album.

PS - I am going back for a curly hair trial! I need to make sure I know what I want for the big day!

Jenn, thanks so much for the info, I will definitely call her. Your hair looks great both curly and straight. I don't know how to post pictures, and am a little scared to post pictures on the internet -- I know I'm pretty lame -- its probably harmless, but I'm a little paranoid. But, my hair is not as curly as yours, and much longer, about halfway down my back. It has a tendency to get frizzy without proper products -- its in between wavy and curly depending on the day -- on a good day its kind of like a brunette Sarah Jessica Parker, but much thicker and a little longer. On a bad day it can be huge!

Any other recommendations from the other curly girls out there?

Ok here is my picture of naturally curly hair, followed by the trial that the hair genie did. I thought she did a great job and was totally understanding about me wanting my hair curly on the day of the wedding. She uses a curling iron to make the curls look neater and to keep them from frizzing out the day of! HTH!

I normally take my curly hair to Helen at Maximus (in the Source Mall). She also did my hair for my engagement party (I have an album with photos), and I plan to have her do my hair for the wedding, too. She originally had suggested straightening it for the wedding, but when i told her i didn't want to, she said no problem, anything i want.

She's a little on the pricier side, but she cuts and styles curly hair really well!

A regular cut, dry & style with Helen is $70; I haven't asked what her price is for wedding-day hair yet

YEAAAAAA!!! I love this post!! I've been looking for curly hair styles in magazines and there's nothing!! It seems like everyone with curly hair straightens it for weddings. I haven't even started to look for someone yet, but here's what my hair looks like normally.

This is of me, my brother, and one of my sisters. I'm on the right.
