Hi gals! FH and I were wondering if you were having both sets of parents under the chuppah with you?
I know there are no set rules... but is this customary to do?
TIA

We are having both sets of parents under the chuppah. I believe it's customary this way.

Custom for both parents, isn't it? My FMIL is disabled so we might have a chair down there for her.

I never even thought of it. GOOD QUESTION. I know both our parents are walking us down the aisle. I guess your Rabbi would direct you with this. Who else goes under with you?

I guess since our wedding is Interfaith, both my parents will be under the chuppah? That was a question, not a statement since I have no idea!

My brother had an interfaith ceremony at a hall. Both sets of parents walked them down but they sat in the first row of chairs. I do not know if non-Jewish parents would want to stand under the chuppah though you never know.

My mother is disabled and will have a chair/stool for her to lean on. G-d makes dispensations for people with disabilities, otherwise he wouldn't be terribly merciful would he? Initially, she didn't want to be under there at all on a chair because she did not want to be a spectacle as she walks with a cane. I had to beg to walk with me since I would be there alone with no parents if she did not. My father passed three weeks ago. I asked my brother to stand in for Dad to help mom walk me down and to keep her steady under the chuppah.
