Bar studying is kicking my @ss. It is so time consuming which I knew, of course, in abstract. It sort of reminds me of first year. You know how everyone tells you about it but you don't get it till you go through it. It's definitely doable but time consuming trying to fit everything in.

Re: For my fellow recent law school grads!
yeah, I made up a schedule that I have yet to follow but I'm going to get a schedule that a former student used since she also did PMBR and Pieper so that I can see what's realistic in terms of multiple choice questions and actually learning the essay stuff.

Re: For my fellow recent law school grads!
I also plan on following a schedule. Trying to do a certain number of multistate questions a night. I think the first month is going to be the hardest, since the bar is two months away.

Re: For my fellow recent law school grads!
The proximity of the bar is stressing me out already. Tuesday is 9 weeks from the bar! lol I know I'll get through it but it's really not that far away.

Re: For my fellow recent law school grads!
I am getting kind of nervous as well!
I start my course on Tuesday... but then I have graduation two weeks after... I have a feeling graduation will get in the way and be stressful to take time out to go, which is not a nice thing...
Thanks for the warning!
Could you gals share your model schedules that past law grads have passed on to you? You could always FM if you don't want to post.
I had a feeling that I wouldn't know how bad it was until I started... for some reason in my head it seems like it won't be so bad and that I will have some free time for breaks and all... but I will vent here starting Tuesday!
In a way the exam seems so close and that's scary - but in another way, almost all of our summer will be ruined by studying for this !
argh!

Re: For my fellow recent law school grads!
lol I was thinking that too Nina! The study schedule is not as good as I thought it would be. It's just set up with subjects and not a day to day schedule that I expected. I plan to do this: Wake up around 7 or 8, get on the treadmill between 15-45 minutes (I like the variation), then leave for Brooklyn Law school. When there, re-read the notes from the night before, maybe make flash cards/handwrite important rules, then try to do 40 PMBR mostly in the subject we are covering that week and the do 50 a day on friday-sunday. I'll also do HW or whatever quizzes we have. Then go to class from 5:45-10PM. Come home at 11, eat, veg for a little, then sleep.
If anyone wants to weigh in on this schedule, please do.

O, ok! I will keep an ear out for model schedules.
I am taking the 9am class because I am a morning person and fall asleep that late at night.... Did you choose the night class? I am just not a night person but I know a lot of people are!
I have heard that some people outline the notes from the class every day to study in July... do you think thats a good idea?

Re: For my fellow recent law school grads!
I think it can be good if you have the time to do it everyday. I did it for the first class but I get so many notes everyday it's hard to keep up. I may try to do it on the weekends. I chose the night class because I like going over stuff during the day and being in class at night since there's more destractions at night for me (fh, tv, falling asleep etc.). I never had night classes in law school or college though, I just thought it could be better for me right now.

that's true, because I know I won't be able to study in the night with a loud house and with the distractions of TV and bed!
There might not be time to outline and it will be hard to catch up! So maybe its not part of the schedule ....
Not looking forward to Tuesday....

Re: For my fellow recent law school grads!
Congratulations! I was in your shoes last year so I can totally sympathize! I just want to add my two cents of advice: Hang in there and definitely give yourself a break every now and then to do something fun. It is soooo stressful but when it's done it's such a great feeling. I don't know who you are using, but I took Pieper and it was awesome. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

YES!!!! Don't waste time making index cards either. It's too much work and info and it's very time consuming. That was one of my biggest mistakes.
What I did was re-read the notes I took in class then do questions, essays etc. pertaining to that. The questions, particular PMBR, are really helpful.
And just as a source of solace, I did TERRIBLE in the PMBR class which was held a week before my Bar last year. I totally freaked out b/c it was then crunch time. I ended up going up 60 points when I took the real Bar. What a relief!

Re: For my fellow recent law school grads!
thanks! I'm taking Pieper too. I was actually a rep and now I'm the site director for my session. I have been trying to re-write the notes. I already have some of the flash cards from when I took NY practice with Pieper fall semester.

Re: For my fellow recent law school grads!
I did this all last yr. I took barbri and found it to be pretty good. They actually gave a pretty detailed list of what you should be doing each day. Every day after class (i did 9 to 12) i outlined and condensed my notes which i found really helpful. For the first month or so i didn't do anything once a weekend (gave self a day off). Once i hit july though it was absolute hell. But you will get through it. Don't freak out too much about where the course tells you you should be (like certain #s getting right). I was never close to wheere they said but i did really good on the multi in the end. Their #s made me really nervous going into the exam. Good luck to all and any questions just ask!
