For placecards anyone doing 'Guest of .......'?

For placecards anyone doing 'Guest of .......'?

I am so slow!

My invites went out and they don’t say John Doe & Guest. They are just John Doe. The RSVP card days “Number in Party : _________” So I’m getting back “2”s and “3”s.

So I’ll have folks coming who I won’t know the name of the guests (frankly I don’t know THEM!) So what do you think about place cards just saying “Guest of John Doe – Table 1” and “John Doe – Table 1” ??

On a side note. Almost 98% of my invites that I mailed went out as John & Jane Doe. Not Mr. & Mrs. John Doe. But I was wondering if I should put Mr. & Mrs. on the place cards.

Thoughts, Ideas, comments?

we just put the couple on the placecard together.....so Tom's brother, whose date's name we didnt' know, we put 'Mr. Michael P and guest'
you can put mr. and mrs. if you want...or keep it informal and put just the first and last names....

I would put the Guest on the same card. That is how I am going to do it.

Example: John Doe and Guest

Ettiquette says that if they are engaged...you put the fiance or fiancee's name spelled out but still on the same card.

Secondly, I would write out the names just as you did on the invites. But that doesn't matter. I would just do it that way if I were you for no particular reason at all though!

I got the smae thing- 2 people rsvp'd saturday for 2 without a guest's name.
I did invit them and guest though.

One is dating someone, but I din't know her last name, that I will call to confirm. The other one isn't dating anyone as far as I know, but I feel that it is nosy if I ask. But if you are bringing this guy to my wedding , it can't be all that private!

I'd rather not put Jane Smith & guest, but I will if I can't find out the names.

I put Mr & Mrs on the envelopes, but I am considerign putting Jane & John Smith on the placecards. I just think its more social, to have everyones first names.

I'm not sure how formal to go though. Like my freind Butch, whose real name is Lynn? He was Mr. Lynn xxxxx on the envelope & that's how he rsvp'd but most people don't even know that his real name!

Same thing with my uncle Chet.
No one ever calls him Chester. I felt weird putting that on his envelope, but I did. It seems weird though, for cards that are going to be out for everyone to see.

I did

'John Doe & Guest'
Table 1

'Mr. & Mrs. John Doe'
Table 2

or 'John & Mary Smith' - Table 3

or 'John Smith & Mary Jones' - Table 4

I wouldn't do a separate card for each person. If you know someone is bringing a guest put them on the same placecard.
