i am dieting ( im on jenny craig) and i eat so much more than that... i eat 1200 calories a day
breakfast- jenny craig food with a fruit lunch- salad and or veggies with jenny craig lunch, another fruit then diner- jenny craig food plus a salad and or veggies then jenny craig dessert....each of their meals are about 300 calories.... you need to eat protein.... you can diet and still eat, just portion control

I agree. If you don't eat enough calories your body goes into starvation mode and holds onto fat. Not to mention, after a few days of that diet and you'll be tired and cranky. . Or, you lose weight quick, but can't keep up that lifestyle so gain it back. Believe me, I've been there.
You really shouldn't go below 1500 calories. If you read magazines like Shape, Self, Fitness, a lot of their meal plans are 1500-1800 calories. It sounds like you're way below.

You should sign up on Self.com.., and try the self challenge...it's free. They have a workout log to track how many calories you burned, and they have menu's to help lose weight. There are also forums on there..

I am trying to slim down too, I wanna lose alot of weight, like 25 lbs. I have been going to the gym, and going on the treadmill, bike, and eliptical machine...I am gonna weigh myself tonight again although I don't think it will have changed much

Good Luck, check out the self.com link...

Re: for the brides to be- on diets

id suggest 3 small meals a day and a healthy snack b/n each. You have to eat enough to keep your metabolism going!

have you tried maybe egg whites or a small bowl of healthy cereal in the morning w/ skim milk...snack like a peice of fruit mid morning. tuna or chicken salad sandwich (fat free/low fat mayo) on weightwatcher bread for lunch...snack like yogurt or cut up veggies mid afternoon. nice sized meal for dinner, maybe a lean cuisine or fish or chicken and salad. and a weight watchers, skinny cow, or smart ones dessert. drink plenty of water.

just some suggestions!

I think that's true. Add more healthy foods.
Like for me, for example I might eat a bowl of raisin bran with skim milk in the morning, a turkey w/ mustard sandwich on wheat bread for lunch, and a salad w/ tuna and fat free yogurt for dessert. Snacks are like carrot sticks or grapes or something. And a lot of water. And I try to exercise 4-5 days a week.
Good luck!!!!

You absolutely need more protein in that diet. (and as the other girls said, you need to eat more). I incorporate a protein into every meal. It sustains you a lot longer than just veggies. Drink lots of water too.

you should join our 'almost the big day exercise thread'....

Several '07'ers are posting everyday their diet / exercise accomplishments and set-backs, and supporting each others efforts
gives us daily incentive to be good

oh, and you should be eating more protein..... you've got the dairy and veg down, but maybe add an eggwhite omlette with veggies and lowfat cheese for dinner, or add some turkey/lean ham to your salad?

Your minimum calories a day should not be lower than 7x's your body weight or 1200 calories, whichever is higher!!!! Cardio and yoga is a great way to lose weight and tone. IF you are unsure of your caloric intake use slimfast or some other form of meal replacement bar/shake twice a day and a healthy meal. It can be a salad, but add beans or chicken/tuna for protein. If you don't eat enough calories, your body will store and you will actually stop losing weight. GL w/ your diet, be very smart about it. You can usually lose weight just eating smart and w/o like crazy!

You aren't eating enough, you need to add some protein, fat and carbs. It's OK to eat carbs, that's where your body gets its energy from, just don't go overboard.

I have been on WW for several months now. To get your daily nutrition they tell you to have two servings of milk (a cup of milk or a yogurt count as one), five servings of fruits and/or vegetables, a multi-vitamin, six 8 oz. glasses of water, and two teaspoons of a healthy oil such as olive oil or flaxseed oil. Along with this you should try to have whole grains and protein. I try to eat something every few hours to prevent going overboard later.

For exercise I mix up power walking, yoga, kickboxing, and pilates. I have read a ton of research that shows that the slower you lose the weight (1-2 pounds a week at most) the more likely you are to keep it off. It is dangerous to try and lose more than that and your body will respond by trying to hold onto everything. Good luck to you! I have lost almost 30 pounds since i started in December. Sometimes I only lose less than a pound a week and there have been times I stayed the same. Just take it one day at a time.

I don't think you are eating enough. If you do not get enough calories, your body goes into starvation mode and it does more harm than good.

You should eat 3 meals a day and snacks in between and have a good variety of food. They usually say that your plate should have different colors--protein, carbs and veggies. It's a matter of portion control and smart eating. On top of that exercising.

I would recommend going on Weight Watchers! I've been on it for almost 4 months and lost 10lbs. Tracking what you eat really helps and by writing down what you eat you see where you cut back and what you can eat more of. The cost was issue for me so I do the Pay As You Go and I go to mtgs every other week. Once you get used to the program and if you are disciplined then you don't really have to go to mtgs.
I also have a WW meal everyday for lunch. I buy them when they are on sale (fyi...they are sale this week at Walbaums... some are 5/10 and the rest are 3/7) so it's $2-$3 a meal... I used to buy my lunch everyday and I'd spend at least $5-$15 a day! So now I'm losing weight and saving money!
