for the girls who parents are paying for the wedding..
Original post by Nichole2010
ok, so, me and fh dont really have to pay for our wedding at all...unless we want extras, like limo's or something...and fh is supplying all the alcohol...
other than that, my paretns are paying for everything..
for you girls who have your parents paying, did FH's parents offer to help at all??
my fh's parents did offer anything..and i dont understand why, they have wayyyyyyyyyyy more money than my family...even if my parents would decline, i think they should still offer...agree?? disagree??

crashing... fh's parents did put in a portion of $$ towards the wedding... but in our case, it was money in an acct that they had saved up for his college which he didnt end up using... and then they gave it to him to use towards the wedding... so it kinda wasnt done outright and not sure if they would have if that acct wasnt there
fh's mom offered my mom to help with the shower but my mom turned her down... so it looks like we would have gotten help there too

I understand you feel maybe your parents are doing everything and why arent his parents. But i wouldnt let money issues get in the way of how you feel about them or let it get in the way period. They will be your family now and you dont want to start off this way.
You can always look at things from a different perspective, i would just be happy that you are having your whole wedding paid for. That is a HUGE stress taken off of you. There are ALOT of girls on here who aren't getting help from their parents or fh's parents, so just focus on what your parents are doing for you and be happy with that.
WE paid for a majority of our wedding, parents did help here and there but most of the financial burden was on us. So coming from a different perspective, i can say be happy lol i know it doesnt help maybe sorry, at that point i was happy with anything we did get, no matter where it came from lol

FH and I are paying for everything our own pretty much. My mom is paying for a Mariachi Band for cocktail (cuz she wants it so fine.. lol) and giving us some $$ towards the wedding. FH's mom isn't giving anything FH's step-mom (since he was like 8) isn't giving anything either. His dad passed away 8 years ago so it's basically the mom's

agree. My parents are paying for the entire reception and ceremony, but we are paying for photo, video, dj, limos, invites, and favors. FH's mom is paying for flowers and the rehearsal dinner. Its tradiation that even if the brides parents are paying that rehersal dinner and at least flowers or limos are paid for by the grooms parents...at least are far as all the friends we have that are getting married.
Has FH spoken to his parents... Joe brought it up to his mom

well studies show that onl 15% of brides parents still pay for the wedding, so times have changed alot, alot of ppl dont follow tradition anymore, just by looking at this site alone you'll see that most girls on here their parents arent paying for the RH and ceremony, mine didnt either. Traditionally his parents pay for RD but now they say that nobody is obligated to pay for anything anymore. THe RD is a while away so maybe they are planning to do it but just havent brought it up yet. MY IL's paid for RD but not like it they brought it up way ahead of time. More when it came time to booking a RD place they brought it up. So to the OP they might have all intentions to do it, have your fh ask. Say he just wants to budget for everything now so it would be best if he knew ahead of time if they will pay or if he has to.

My parents are paying for literally everything... RH, flowers, photog, videog, limo, etc... everything. FH's parents have their own business and do very well but did not offer, and honestly my parents didn't even expect them to. Perhaps they are all just very old school?? My father does extremely well so I am blessed that he didn't even ask about pricing when we went to look at RHs... and he never mentioned a word about FH's parents contributing. But I know that today, it is much more common for everyone to pitch in... but Dad is very old school so he doesn't see it that way at all. I think it is just an individual mind set but am not sure if there is a right or wrong.

Its tradition for the FH's family to pay for the rehersal dinner, that's all I know. I read it in Etiquette for Dummies book.

my parents told me 'not to worry about money'. not sure exactly what that means but FH parents are not paying one red cent.

my parents are paying for mostly everything. i think fh's parents will be paying for the rehearsal dinner, which will be pretty small.
