Do you still get your period?? I do not understand this concept. Don't ovulation causes you to get your period??? Please clarify. There was someone on here who said that they thought they were ovulating and they actually wasn't. If you don't get your period how could you think you were ovulating. I was trying to explain to my GF about some of the issues that women were facing in causing them not to conceive/ovulate.

Re: FOR THE LADIES THAT SAID THEY DO NOT OVULATE
* jumps up and down waving her hand, saying me, me!! *
I haven't had AF in over a year (I am not on BC or any other medications). There was no underlying cause that I could think of that would prevent me from getting AF (100 HPTs all came back negative), so I went to the doc who did hormone tests on my blood. All came back fine.
I am anovulatory - meaning I do not ovulate and I don't get AF. However, it is possible to bleed if you don't ovulate - essentially, anovulatory bleeding or simlar to breakthrough bleeding.
So yes Shamma, you only get a period if you ovulate. That's the body's way of expelling the egg that went unfertilized (sorry TMI).
I do not know if I ovulate without getting AF. That's why trying to get preggo is such a 'trying' thing for us. And hopefully Clomid, which jump starts ovulation, will be the answer to my questions.

Re: FOR THE LADIES THAT SAID THEY DO NOT OVULATE
I am scheduled to go back to my doc this month to begin the 'process'.... First I take a 10-day Rx of Provera to induce AF, then I take the Clomid once I get AF.

Re: FOR THE LADIES THAT SAID THEY DO NOT OVULATE
Since having Paul, I have been experiencing anovulatory bleeding (such as Trish describes - bleeding without ovulating), but for me, it is not as much of an unknown as to the reason why. I have been diagnosed with PCOS, which is what is throwing off my ovulatory cycle. I am taking a medication to help. This whole subject is very upsetting and very difficult to deal with for me right now, b/c we've had to put our plans for baby #2 on hold until I am more regular.

Re: FOR THE LADIES THAT SAID THEY DO NOT OVULATE
I had ovulating problems which led me to go on clomid. I would get my period but never the same time every month.. it was late days even as late as a week at a time, so it was hard to try to detect 'when' would of been a good time to try, which led me and DH to be very active all month long ( lol) I would of gotten pregnant eventually, I only tried for a few months before I tured to a fertility specialist because I was impatient.. I got pregnant the first month on the clomid.

I also have ovulation problems. I was doing OK for about 9 months and now I have started missing periods again.

Re: FOR THE LADIES THAT SAID THEY DO NOT OVULATE
I dont get my period at all because of my thyroid. I have to take medication to bring it on, but the doctor said that since I do get my period when I take the medication, getting pregnant on medication will happen very quickly.
I hope he's right!!

Re: FOR THE LADIES THAT SAID THEY DO NOT OVULATE
Same here Christine. I have no problems with AF once I take Provera, and the blood work has all come back with normal hormone levels. I hope things progress quickly here as well.

Re: FOR THE LADIES THAT SAID THEY DO NOT OVULATE
I always thought I had normal periods too but it turns out I don't ovulate that strongly on my own -- that's why I'm on Clomid too. But the theory that if I get my period regularly that once on meds you'll get pregnant quickly doesn't ring true for me. I just finished my 4th dose of Clomid at the highest dosage and nothing so far.

Re: FOR THE LADIES THAT SAID THEY DO NOT OVULATE
Stef I don't even get periods, so I have nothing to go by So I am so afraid that the Clomid will also do nothing for me, asI have been following your struggles as well.
Good Luck
I also wanted to clarify one thing. I always had normal periods, like clockwork, then went on the pill at the age of 24. Came off the pill last September after 6-7 years on it, and then discovered I haven't gotten my period since then! So who knows what the problem is. But it's very frustrating, despite all my friends with children saying that I should be happy I don't get an AF!!

Re: FOR THE LADIES THAT SAID THEY DO NOT OVULATE
Hugs to Trish, Stef, and all others who are trying. I was talking to my mom the other day about what people go through while TTC. After my parents married and bought their house they tried for five YEARS before I, their only child, decided to show up. My mom just couldn't get pregnant. In our conversation, she marveled at the options available to women these days to 'help' their bodies do what they're meant to do. She didn't have most of those options and she still was able to have a child. I share this only to remind everyone that there is always hope and to never give up. We're all rooting for you.
