We are really considering driving. We each did it 2 times. Once together and once with friends alone. When mike went with his friend alone they left at 7 am and got home at 11 pm (I could only imagine how fast they were driving) I can't remember how long it took us but we stopped overnight.
I really don't want to stop overnight this time. YIKES... I want to just get there. We are going to go for Easter and airfare is SO CRAZZZZZY its 225 (the cheapest I saw) We only have 7 days maybe 9 days.

we drive straight through, tampa to staten island, ususally takes 19-20 hours, but that is at the speed limit. I drove it twice alone, that is hell, but with DH we just alternate drivers. word of advice if I may, we made the mistake 2 years in a row of traveling from tampa to ny on April 1. stay off the roads. that is when all of the snow bunnies make there way up north. the first of the month, becauses leases are up on March 31. We were in such thick traffic, RV's mainly. Took 13 hours to reach Atlanta

WOW I never even thought of that. Thank you Janice. Easter is March 27. We were going to go the 24-31 Maybe we will make it 1 day earlier. We are going to South Florida West Palm/Ft. Lauderdale area so Tampa is probably 4 hours away.

lol yeah , the first year we were stuck in it, we thought maybe it was a horrible accident or construction or something, the second year, we were at a gas station and I asked the guy and he told me this is the scene every april 1. glad to be of service!!

i do the trip regularly - a few times every year for the past probably like 10 years (because I have lived in both states and have family/friends in both states)... anyway, it takes between 14-21 hours of driving depending on how many times you stop for gas and on your speed. if you stop for gas like 4 times or less, and maintain about 10 miles over the speed limit the whole way, it will probably take you about 16-17 hours to hit central florida.
DON'T SPEED IN VIRGINIA!!! the entire state is full of speed traps.

Thanks everyone. We are still thinking of what to do. I love Florida (if anyone read any of my threads I really want to move there) SO I want to get as much out of the vacation I can. If we fly we will have more time there. But airfare is way to much money because of easter. If we drive we will have a car we wont have to rent one or be depentend on someone else like Mikes sister or BIL but my brother said I could use his car as long as I drive him to and from work. He works in downtown lauderdale. He lives in Deerfield Beach but right now he is staying in West Palm Beach at my parents condo. So that is like an hour trip. LIKE EACH WAY.... I dont know what to do.

took us 16-17 hours to drive from Georgia straight through to NY, we left around 3pm and got home7am the next day
