Re: for the smaller ladies

I'm 5'2' and 105 - is that close enough?

I had such a hard time with the sample dresses. Most were so big on me and I am really bad a visualizing what it will look like in my size. It was really hard to tell what styles looked the best when pins and clip were coming out of everywhere and if you moved an inch the entire thing would fall down. But, in the end you will know the dress when you try it on. Pins and all when I saw my dress I absolutely knew it was the one. It was the first one I truly felt like I was a bride and princess in. I ended up getting my gown at Bridal Reflections, but I recommend trying Priscilla of Boston. They carry stock of some dresses there so I was able to try on almost all there styles in small size and in petites so I really was able to see how pleats would look and how certain tops would fit. Whether of not you get a dress there, it definately helped me to really see the dress fitting on me. I went with a ballgown which at first I had almost ruled out thinking it would be too overpowering and some were, but you just have to keep trying and you will know when you found 'the one'. Good Luck!!

i had a really hard time with the sample dresses also. The lady told me because i am 5'2' that i shouldnt get anything with a sleeve, or even off the shoulder. She also said to be careful with the really full skirts because we can get lost in them. I know how you feel though. All the dresses felll right to the ground on me. Good luck!!

I had the hardest time with sample dresses!!! I really hope that I made the right decision. My dress comes in October 20th - I'll post pics of it then.

Here's a pic for my wedding dress. i'm 5 feet tall and around 100 pounds. I would suggest something fitted. I had a hard time visualizing how I would look in my wedding gown too b/c the samples are so big. But, just remember that's what alterations are for

i had a problem dress shopping because i just couldnt picture what a dress in my size would actually look like... the women at the salons used the clips as best as they could and i think i made the right decision....it made it more difficult also that my FH is also 5'2'

Re: for the smaller ladies

I'm 5'3, so a little taller... went around the store and tried all the different styles.

For the shorter ladies here's what I'd suggest:
1. something fitted
or
2. Dropped waist, A line dress
(my choice)
...dropped waist makes your body looks longer and A line creates a slanted line so your leggs look longer as well.

....either choice, keep it strapless

Good Luck

I totally did not listen to any of the rules lol. I am 5 ft and my dress was a 6. It was a ball gown type with cathedral train. And not strapless. I was trying to find something that was different and it worked. there was one other wedding and I had people come out to take my picture..that was such an ego boost lol.

I am a bit taller at 5'3'' but I felt like I was swimming in the poofy, ballgowns, even some a-lines i felt my dress was among me not the other way around. I don't have a pic of me in the dress here at work, but here is my dress. It is fitted slim to me until the knees.

That has been happening to me too. When I tried on this beatiful ballgown that was poofy, my mother & MOH said it almost looks like it can just get up and walk away on its own, lol. They said it looked like I was swimming in it and I could get lost in it. I am 5'3' and 105 a little taller than you. This is the dress I chose

Here's my dress- not only am I smaller, I am also older so I felt really silly in those ballgowns- they just didn't suit me. I have a much more tailored style. Here's my dress

Re: for the smaller ladies

I recommend an a line or a tighter dress ( i think it is called a sheath.). The ball gowns can be a little overwhelming. Although I have seen some girls pull it off and look great. Anyway I am 5 foot tall and this is my dress...... Good luck and have fun.

I'm 5' tall and about 98 pounds. I got a maggie sottero, the bodice is very fitted, but it has an a-line skirt which does not swallow me up. The sample actually fit in the store, I almost dropped dead from the shock. I think she cuts very small which is good for us. FM me for more info. Here is the dress
