??? for the teachers

I have back to school night this week for my son. Do you usually get to meet with the teacher one on one, or is it just a basic introduction?

I'd kinda like to get a feel of how he's doing in class...

Most likely there will be no time to meet one on one with the teacher. Think about it, there are probably like 23 kids in his class, and if everyone tries to get his teacher one on one, which they will, then you'll be there forever. Usually you can schedule a meeting for his first parent teacher conference at back to school night. Maybe request a short phone conference when you are there. Good luck!

Do you think I could just call the school and request a phone conference? I really want to know how he's doing. I know he gets a stamp on his hand every day, which is to let the parents know immediately that the child had a good day, but I want deeetaillllsssss! Do I sound neurotic???

No, you don't sound neurotic at all! I think that you should just leave a message for her at school tomorrow. She might even agree to meet with you 10 oe 15 minutes before back to school night starts. She'll be willing to work with you, it's part of her job. If it's any consolation, I'm SURE Scotty's doing great. The stamp never lies!

As Rachel said, if you call and set-up a conference or if you reach her by phone, she'd be more than happy to talk with you, BUT back to school night tends to get hectic and all those parents are around and the teacher is usually hesitant to say anything with others 'lurking.'
