for those couples that will be living in apts after the wedding

how long will you be doing the apt thing?

fh and i were talking last night ... and if all goes according to plan.. we will be keeping our condo for 5 years (4 after the wedding)

by then we will probably have a baby ( i guess ) and will need to search for a

btw he wants to move to LI....but i will always be a jersey girl at heart

We set a goal of 3 years after marriage to buy a home. We figure if could spend all of this money on a wedding after only 1 year of saving, we can definitely save enough for an awesome down payment

i think when we decide to have children, we'll want to move into a new place ... so probably another year or two after we get married.

we were wondering this too. FH wants to go into a house soon but honestly I dont want to deal with it. I would say in about 2-4 years after we have our first or second kid

we where also talking about this last night. we plan on staying in our current apartment, downstairs from my parents, until the fall. then depending on where FH is working we will make a decision on either another apartment in Brooklyn (for a couple of years) or purchasing a home upstate, NY.

we actually dont want to live in an apartment for more than the first few months....we are even considering trying to not sign a lease at all because we have already begun looking at houses. If we don't have a house by the summer, we will look for apartments but ideally, we would like to be out asap and in a house iwthin the first year!

wow I see I am the only one who never wants to own a house. interesting.
I want to live in an apt for the rest of my life. each time getting bigger one. the most I will get is a townhouse. but that is even very iffy. took me actually a long time to convince FH for this

I want to stay at the current apt for a yr after the wedding tops, hopefully moving into our own apt at the end of the current lease

FH and i have a really beautiful apartment but we want a house (for our dogs..hehe) within 2 years...We'll start looking July 2011.

my fam lives in Florida and we are probably going to move down there in a about 2-3 years... im thinking that we would buy then...

we are so lucky that we are renting Fh's parents apartment upstairs which is spacious and a great priceeeeee but we don't plan to live there for over a year we already have the money for a down payment we just need more time for me to be working full time for one whole year thats' whats holding us back

FH and i have a difficuly living situation.
so we are moving into an apartment in hoboken within the next couple of months. and will live there i guss until we are ready to have babies, then we will look for a house on Long Island.

Hopefully we'll buy a house a year after the wedding...but it really depends on what our job situations are like at that time. Even if we had $$ for a down payment there's no way we could afford the rise in utilities along with mortgage payments and taxes on the house on our current salaries.

FH and I will probably end up in the apartment we are currently at for a year after the wedding. But then after that we better have a house!! Lol! It all depends on what happens with work.

We live in an apt now and will most likely live there for a year or so depending on how long it takes to save for a house. FH does not want to sell the apt.
