i didn't plan on putting flowers in the church, as the church is gorgeous by itself - lots of brick and stained glass. is this okay??? will the altar look too bare??

thanks!!!!

do you have a picture of the alter. It's a really bright stained glass behind the alter that would be lit by the sun during the ceremony, I'd say you don't need them. But I think it's preference...I want to be surounded by flowers.

i think it will be okay. i think that is one of the few places where you can spare flowers. mainly because most people will be paying attention to you guys, not the floral arrangements.

I agree with you, St. Joseph's in Babylon is gorgeous on it's own. The altar is beautiful with or without flowers so either way you will be ok.

I would check with your church. Mine requires that I get at least on arrangement for the altar.

Ask your church if they have any sillk flower arrangments? Mine did we were giong to use those, turned out there was a funeral the morning b4 my wedding and they left the altar flowers, so I ended up with fresh flowers.

My church was beautiful too. I bought flowers for the altar and the pews, but I didn't need them for the altar (looking at my pictures). IMO - - if you can get away with it, save the money or spend it towards something else.

I think that's fine - although don't some churches require a flower 'donation'. Maybe check with your church.

thanks ladies!! the church does not require a flower arrangement as i mentioned to the priest that i did not plan on putting flowers on the altar and he was fine with that.

I felt the same way you did. I thought the Church was pretty on its own. The Pastor was cool with that.
But of course........
At the very last minute I did decide to put 2 SMALL altar arrangements on either side. It looked pretty and wasn't expensive.

Whatever you decide, I'm sure it will be beautiful. Flowers are not mandatory

karen32... we are doing bows only & candles at the altar. Our church is very ornate as well, so we thought flowers (esp in January) might look out-of place there.
Fhs ENTIRE family got married in their church & only one of his aunts had flowers & everyone's wedding looked gorgeous!

my church also requires that you should get flowers. It is like a decorative donation to them. I would check with the church first.
