I am soooo confused!!! What is the difference between all these rooms? Is it worth double the price to get a nicer room??? We are going out of New York Norwegian for 11 nights to the southern carribean....For 2 people in the cheapest room it would cost 1,700....Is that a good price? Should I upgrade for a better room or are we going to be so busy we wont be in the room? Help!!! Thanks!!!

Re: For those going on/went on cruise....
I went on a cruise in July - you are never in your room - maybe for an afternoon nap and to sleep! I wouldnt get the very smallest room, I was in the second smallest. I still felt a little clostrophobic (the bathroom was teeny tiny), but again you arent in the room all that much. It depends on how much more a bigger room costs. That sounds like a good price, but i have only been on one cruise, and it was about that price, but only for 7 days.

The cheaper rooms are on the lower decks, and you may feel the boat moving when you are sleeping. I think they are also inside cabins...no windows. If you do not get seasick easily you may not mind it. $1700 for 11 nights sounds very very cheap...I would ask about the room location...good luck!!

When i went on like 4 cruises we were never in our rooms, we got an inside cabin on one of the lower decks and it was perfect we had so much fun outside.

Re: For those going on/went on cruise....
I have been on 11 cruises, and most of the time I am in a room with no window or a room with a window. Rooms are very small, but you are never in them. For your HM get a balcony room. THey are a little roomier, and it is your HM. If you do not want to spend the money, get a inside room or a window room. You will be fine. Try to get a room on a high floor, Being on the bottom of the boat stinks. You maybe closer to the restaurants, but it is better to be closer to the pool. Also, you don't feel the rocking as much. You can ask for a guarentee room. This means you buy a cheap room, but will get upgraded. You don't get a room number right away, you have to wait until they fill up the cheap rooms, then they usually upgrade you to a high floor. I have done this 3 times, and we have gotten rooms right across from the balcony rooms everytime. Are you going on the Norwegian Dawn, I just went on that boat this past June.

I went on a Norwegian cruise in May....we had an oceanview room. It has a sliding glass door with a balcony and I would say it's worth the money. The inside rooms don't have windows and are smaller and I think the rooms lower on the boat have portholes. If I had to do it over, I would pick the same room.

I have been on a lot of cruises (10-12) If the price isnt much more, get the bigger room..I have only been in a small room once, I hated it, I felt like I was living in a closet, and with all of my clothes for the 7 days we were int hat room..it was tight...after that we only got rooms with balconies..it is totally worth it..and its nice to have your private romantic time

Re: For those going on/went on cruise....
i disagree with a few posts.
i've been on 3 cruises, and my HM will be a cruise. being lower on the boat, but not level with the sea, is what i consider the best. it is more stable and you rock less than way up top.
definitely get an outside cabin. inside cabins give me motion sickness. get a balcony if you can. try to get one with an unobstructed view and get a regular window, not a porthole
you will have a BLAST on a cruise!

For you HM definately go for balcony or at least an oceanview. It's worth the money to have a view of the ocean when you are relaxing in your room. The inside cabins are tiny and dark. And they usually have early booking specials. Give them a call and see what they offer

Travelocity has some great deals going on!!! Also if you have a discover card you can use your cashback bonus to get money off a cruise.
I've been on several cruises myself and honestly didn't spend a lot of time in my room. If your on a tight budget I say go for whatever room category fits best. If you can afford it go for a balcony, if not I think a category 4A room is fine. Good luck

If you can afford it, go with the balcony room. You are going for 11 days, it is worth it. Yes, you don't spend that much time in your room, but still, it is nice to have more room to roam around. You do spend alot of time getting ready for dinner.
6-8 months before is good. I booked my HM 8 months in advance.

Re: For those going on/went on cruise....
i've been on two cruises both times we had an inside room. it was a decent size and I didnt feel crammed at all. you don't spend too much time in the room.
i highly recommend you try to get a room on a higher deck even if its like deck 7 or 8 you'll be fine anything lower you might feel the boat rocking. also avoid getting a room in the front of the ship try to get one in the middle.

WE love cruises our first cruise together we got a reg. room with a balconey so great to sit and relax and for our honeymoon we are doing a 10 day cruise out of NY and we are going to relax again in our suite(bigger room) with a balconey, We are spending 4200.00, you should think about spending alittle more money for at least a reg. room with a balconey

Also leaving out of ny its colder so the 1st day or 2 you might want to relax in your room

Re: For those going on/went on cruise....
I have been on 3 cruises and I have always had a window. i would at the minimum get a room with a window it is nice to look out in the morning or evening sunset. Since it is your honeymoon I would try and splurge for the balcony you can have breakfast served in your room and have a quiet breakfast in the morning on your balcony or a nice sunset before dinner.

Re: For those going on/went on cruise....
for your honeymoon, i would just get a balcony room (this is what we did)
so you can relax on your private deck w/o worrying about everybody.
a suite and up is really a waste
it is correct you will never be in your room (to some point) but when you are there, it should be nice. balconly is not that much of an upgrade anyway.
and make sure you are away from the elavators (well, near them)

we did but we shouldn't of...we were going on it regardless (also covered flight insurance but most credit cards cover flight insurance if you use it)
