I am soooo confused!!! What is the difference between all these rooms? Is it worth double the price to get a nicer room??? We are going out of New York Norwegian for 11 nights to the southern carribean....For 2 people in the cheapest room it would cost 1,700....Is that a good price? Should I upgrade for a better room or are we going to be so busy we wont be in the room? Help!!! Thanks!!!

Re: For those going on/went on cruise....
I would advise that you get a room up top... I stayed low with a window and even that at night we felt the boat moving and it was loud.. you actually hear the water hitting the side of the boat..
spend the extra money and get a high room with a balcony... it is pretty to see and you might want to be alone outside... the boat is crowded while at sea.. you will enjoy this believe me....
but cruises are awesome.. we went on Royal Carribean.. I recommend them....

Yeah, it only covers partial refunds so I thought 200 was a waste....We dont even have to fly, its right out of new york!!
What else does insurance cover that we might need?

Re: For those going on/went on cruise....
I've been on 9 of them. You want a view on your honey moon. Don't get a suite or an extra large room.....get a porthole at least. It's well worth it. Remember.....many people get motion sick on a cruise. If you tend to get sick.....pick a low floor. The window is also nice if you can't leave your room because you are calling for your uncle ralf. It sounds a bit crude but trust me. If you get sick and can't leave your room at least you can see some daylight!!!! Goodluck whatever you do!!!!

Re: For those going on/went on cruise....
We booked an oceanview stateroom in September 2005 for our October 2006 honeymoon. We got one of 5 remaining oceanview cabins left for that particular cruise (Europe) in our price range. I would say book ASAP if the one you picked is unusual.

Re: For those going on/went on cruise....
i'm looking too and am confused about which to get...
i was thinking about the guarantee oceanview cause i love the idea of getting a better room (possibly)...
i'd love a balcony but two things: 1 the cost and 2 i'm leaving in march - how nice is gonna be going from bayonne to florida in march for the first few days... may be a waste till we get lower down...
good luck~

I'm getting a balcony mainly for the view, but also because it is romantic. I think it will also help me feel less claustrophobic.

Re: For those going on/went on cruise....
The only thing that I think you must have is an exterior cabin. All of the rooms are pretty small so unless you can get a balcony it's not really going to matter what level you are on. I would love to get a balcony for our HM, but I don't know if we'll be able to afford it.

Re: For those going on/went on cruise....
I went on 4 cruises so far- this past summer the Norwegian Dawn. The rooms are very spacy- It all depends on you. Personally on all 4 cruises we had an inside cabin only because we didnt really spent too much time there other than to sleep and get ready. IMO I would spent the extra cash on something else (spa?, shore exercusions?)
BTW The ship was absolutely gorgeous and the staff was extremely helpful- This past summer I had a accident on the boat and they were very helpful and attentive.
Youll have a great time!!

Re: For those going on/went on cruise....
We are doing a 10 night cruise aboard Norweigan out of NY for our HM! After doing 3 other cruises, we opted to spend the extra $$ for the balcony room! The oceanview rooms are nice also & at least you are not staring at the walls for days! Knowing we will be at sea for 2 days going, we opted to have the room with the most options but without breaking the bank! I wanted to be able to sit on the balcony & watch the ocean go by & watch the sunset on our private area! You will spend time in your room especially when you are at sea! Make sure you are comfortable in your surroundings..
We are paying less then $3500 for our balcony room which is only $1750 per person

Re: For those going on/went on cruise....
I usually go for an interior room in the middle of the ship about 1/2 way up - around the 8th floor. You won't feel the ship move as much. As far as the price, you are only in your room to sleep so I personally don't think it is worth the extra money for a different type of room - just my opinion. Cruises are awesome - you are going to love it!

Re: For those going on/went on cruise....
I have been on several cruises and always had the cheapest inside cabin room- simply cause I knew we would never be in our rooms...I was younger and it didnt bother me....
FOr the honeymoon we are going on a MEditteranean cruise for 11 days and I wanted a room with a window at least...
What I have found is that without the window I can literally sleep ALL day cause it is so dark...I do not want that to happen..
The room with a balcony would have cost us about 2000 more and we didnt find it worth it sicne we knew we would rarely be in our rooms to enjoy it, although I am sure it is amazing...
I recommend at least getting a window room

Make sure to have a room with a window. It's annoying to wake up and not be able ot judge how to dress because you can't see if it's sunny or rainy. If you can spring for it, get a balcony, it's wonderful! Enjoy!

Re: For those going on/went on cruise....
The only time I got sick on a cruise was when I was in the inside room with no window and extremely small. IMO, I wouldn't get this room, at least get something with a window. The last two cruises I went on I got the balcony and loved it, especially FH because he would hang out there and drink a beer when I was getting ready to give me more room. Also it was nice to hang out their in the morning or late at night and I loved leaving the door open and hearing the water when we slept.

Re: For those going on/went on cruise....
to add more to your confusion!! the first time i cruised i had a window and the first time i looked out was the evening and i couldn't see anything!!ha! during the day we were in our room to change/shower-that's it -you are sooo busy......
the next time we cruised we didn't get a window b/c i felt it was a waste of $$ the first time if you get seasick get a window if you don't--i would spend the $ else where since it's your HM-it would be a nice touch if you are going to use it ie:balcony but if u plan on exploring during the day save the $--to sit out there at night, you are not going to see anything anyway! so it would only be used during the day JMO
as for seeing what the weather is, if i am not mistaken---i think there is a TV channel that tells you the weather....... leaving NY is beautiful, and it will be chilly ... and as far as sitting on your balcony the first day down to the islands, you will most likely be checking out the ship to find out what it has to offer! so u may not be on that balcony as much as u think!
one last thing, i always heard that the lower you are the better---the ship seems to sway more on the higher levels........

Re: For those going on/went on cruise....
We have been on a few cruises and have always had a suite with balcony, our last cruise was our honeymoon and we did the 10 Norwegian Dawn to the caribbean and we had the penthouse suite which was amazing but I have to say the food was disgusting everyone on the boat who has cruised before complained how awful it was. We saw the regular balcony rooms and they looked nice you should at least get one with a window. But if you can splurge its worth it, we had a huge 10x12 deck with lounge chairs and it was so amazing.

Re: For those going on/went on cruise....
I have been on a few cruises and while I am all for a bargain, I prefer an oceanview. In an inside cabin you have no idea what time it is and I had a hard time waking up in the morning. Of course, if you are on your honeymoon you may want to sleep in anyway! I prefer having a view and getting some sunlight, though. And while a higher floor does mean easier access to the pool area, it will be rockier than a cabin lower down in the ship. The best place to be if you are worried about seasickness is on a low deck in the missle of the ship...not too far forward or back. Good luck! Oh...and try www.cruisecompete.com because you can enter the things you want and different agencies will give you prices and you can choose the best one. I also do research on www.cruisecritic.com and www.vacationstogo.com.

When i went on like 4 cruises we were never in our rooms, we got an inside cabin on one of the lower decks and it was perfect we had so much fun outside.
We've been on a few we loved a balcony which is $$, but to us it's worth it. We enjoy drinking wine in the privacy of each others arms, eating breakefeast there, we're smokers so it was nice. we had an inside on our 1st cruise and we feel so confined. Remember the rooms on ships are so teeny

Re: For those going on/went on cruise....
When we went I got upgraded to a balcony room. I LOVED it!!! It's good if your getting ready to go out, you can go right out on the balcony. I mean, you're not in the room all the time, but it's nice.
