For those having a church wedding...

We have a florist appt on Saturday and was just wondering how many of you getting married in church are also decorating the church (with flowers or bows, etc) and is it bad if we don't. We're trying to cut corners wherever we can...TIA

i would decorate. just get pew bows, they are inexpensive, other than that.. dont worry about it. but as ur walking down the aisle , for pictures it woudl look nice to have bows

Our church said that we do not need to provide flowers because they always have floral arrangements in the church anyway, and they actually request that we don't. You may want to call the church because they may have floral arrangements every week for masses anyway. As for bows and ribbons you may want to ask someone that is really creative to make the decorations for you. When my FSIL got married her moms friends made all of the decorations for the church an it looked beautiful.

I'm not... I am going to do bows myslef and sprinkle some petals but other than that... nope.... I feel it's a bit of a waste we are only there for an hour tops... no one will notice if there arn't any alter flowers

I am getting 2 alter pieces, flowers for mary, and... 6 rows of bows.

Originally i wasn't going to get it and was just going to get flowers on my own. We decided to just have the florist do it so it's one less thing we need to worry about the day of.

FYI - for those girls doing their own flowers.
If there is another ceremony after yours they might make you take the flowers down yourself so the other party can then set up. Just a thought.

I am going to bows at the end of the Phews and just flower arrangments on the alter. I am not going crazy with flowers in the church.

I'm having a church wedding and we are getting two floral arrangements for the front of the church and we are decorating ever other pew (28 pews). I bought 30 pew bows for $15 at Jack's 99 cent store and I plan to ask the florist if she can just add flowers to it, but if it comes up to be too much money I plan to put my bridal party to work with the pew bows.

You do not need to decorate all the pews; I've seen weddings where they just decorate the first 4 or so pews.

I'm cutting costs by giving my flower girl silk rose petals to throw instead of real petals. I also plan to make a wreath to hang on the church door; I may use silk or real flowers; not sure about which yet.

I don't want to do alter arrangements but my mom wants me to.... I think they are a great place to scrimp on... they cost like $300 bucks! I am doing alter arrangements and a few pew bows (just normal 99 cent pew bows).

If you are not the first wedding of the day, the church can just keep the previous couple's alter arrangements up there if you want.

i am not getting decorations for the church.. the altar will already be decorated w/ flowers and we will be there for like a half hour, so i decided to save some $ in this area.

I hadn't really thought about it and our church is ugly (yucky wood paneling ), but thats what I get for giving in to FH

I'll likely just DIY pew bows or something.

I am having a church ceremony and I plan on getting two floral arrangements to go in the front of the church. Our church already has floral arrangements in it for mass but we still want to add our own little touch, nothing over board. I think if you want to add a little or a lot that is fine, and if your church already has the florals and you want to save money, just use their flowers.

I'll have some decorations at the church....a few flowers and maybe some bows. But not a lot. My church doesn't even allow tulling across the pews, so that's not an option for me.

I am a little bit but I totally don't think it's necessary and think you'll be fine without anything!

Check with your church. I got married during first communion time and they had flowers already on the alter. they might already have flowers and that way you can save but still have it decorated.

im not decoarting it. we're only doing a ceremony so we're gonna be there for 30 mins. IMO, not worth the $$

If there is more than one wedding that day, you could check with the other brides and possibly split decorations if you want. It makes life less expensive, but probably a little harder since you'd have to contact at least one other person.

Personally, I'm getting married near Christmas, so my church will be holiday decorated!
