Okay... my guy does the laundry and occasionally puts dishes in the dishwasher.
BUT he's home more than I am (doesn't leave for work each day until 1)... it just aggravates me that he can't bring a DVD back to the store, clean up a little, put his coffee cup in the sink, look around and put SOMETHING away, make the bed,
SOMETHING! Take initiative and say, 'Hey... I can do THIS!'. Why does he have to put ME in the position to have to TELL him what to do!?!?!?'
UPDATE: Get this.... I actually ran into the woman we bought the house from last night!!! SO RANDOM!!! Haven't seen her since Christmas time! She's like, 'I keep wanting to stop by!'. On the outside, I'm like, 'Oh, anytime!'.. On the inside, 'OMG... NEVER! It's a mess!!'.
Got my home and my FH and I agreed we need to come up with a better plan. AND we agreed that we're doing a MAJOR CLEANING this weekend!!!
See, HIS problem is messy, with coffee cups and leaving crap everywhere. MINE is organization with papers and mail everyhwhere and not having an office or a system for everything yet. Any suggestions? I WANT A CLEAN HOUSE!!!

I can't work Full Time, do the finances/bills, clean the house, plan a wedding, do the food shopping, etc - and he just does laundry!
Don't have kids then. I work 40 hours a week (stop laughing), do the laundry (because I want to have it done my way), cook the food, pay the bills and even remember to check the blasted DVR to record PTI b/c he gets out of work at 6:30 and it's on at like 5 or something. On top of that, I am solely responsible for the location, condition and status of a certain 5 year old...my 'job' is never done...and I used to do all of these things WITHOUT anyone to help each day.

DH is very helpful around the house,he is such a wonderful considerate man.
He knows how much I absolutely hate ot wash dishes so he does them. I really appreciate that. In turn I do all the cooking, which I enjoy.

I hear ya - last year - I did the wedding planning, worked full time, worked 2 part time jobs, did SOME of the cleaning and cooking - he always did laundry and most of the cooking - but hey, the house was definitely a mess - he worked full time too - and when he lost his job, he still didnt do everything around the house - but hey - we also have his 2 daughters, and a lot more responsibilities on the way - things never calm down - best to sit him down, and come up with a written plan of who will do what - if he doesnt do beds, then have him establish what he will do, and trust him that it will get done....
look - if it was easy, it would be called somehting else!!!

He cooks most of the time, whoever doesn't cook does the dishes, he makes the bed, and when i clean the bathroom... he does the vacuuming.
I guess since we started dating 8 years ago... i kind of laid down the law then that we do things 50/50. so if he cooks... i do the dishes and clean up. If i cook... he does them. When i go to clean i give him a choice between cleaning the bathroom or vacuuming. Of course he always chooses the vacuum!
I refuse to do all the work around 'our' house. He lives there too!

Mine actually helps a lot. He owns a business and I work in the city so he comes home every day to walk the dog. He also does all the laundry every week and runs all my errands for me like picks up my packages from the post office and my rx's from the pharmacy. Today he got my car inspected. He even vacuums and runs the dishwasher! All men are different though..I've never seen my dad cook anything ever or even wash a dish.

i can certainly sympathize with you. FH is a pig who rarely does anything unless asked and even then, it usually takes two or three tries.
But on the otherhand, FH works crazy hours so that SORT OF excuses some of it.

It took FH and I some time to get aquainted with living together and not having parents do things for us. We've come to a compromise. He will do the dishes (including the pots and pans) if I cook. He washes the bathroom, toilet, bathtub if I scrub and clean the bathroom and kitchen floors and whoever finishes first, will usually vacuum the carpet. Oh, he does the dusting of all the furniture too!!!!!!

I do the cooking, laundry and food shopping. He throws out the garbage and sometimes loads the dishwasher.
He pays the cleaning lady to come in and clean. I hate cleaning.

you know what drives my nuts i guess because its a pet peeve of mine.....when he washes his face or hands in the bathroom sink and it looks like he bathed in it instead....water all over the place, on the floor, on the mirror EVERYWHERE!!! I purposely place a small towel next to the sink so he can wipe all the water once he''s finished....do you think he used it once!?!??! It drives me crazy because then the water dries and leaves water marks all over the place....and because its my only really big complaint! Jez....
I have to say that living with your FH before marriage is the best thing in the world and i recomment it to everyone!!!!

Me and my FH are pretty equal in our cleanliness and sloppiness. I'm a fanatic about the kitchen being clean, because I love to cook, so I take care of that. He doesn't mind cleaning the bathroom so he takes care of that. We pretty much split everything else. However, we BOTH need to get our butts in gear with the small things - leaving half empty glasses around the living room, leaving shoes out, leaving wet towels on the bed in the morning, etc. It takes two, I suppose.

No, unless I push him into it. He works crazy hours, though, and I'm not the neatest person either, so I understand where he's coming from. I really need a cleaning lady, but it's $$$$$$$

DH is really good. He usually cleans the dishes when I cook. He also cleans the bathroom which I hate to do. I agreed that I would clean the kitchen. Neither one of us makes the bed
Really you should just sit down with him and discuss the division of responsibilities.

he does NOTHING!!!! I almost called off the wedding bc of it. I told him that I will be on birth control for the rest of my life bc I can't raise a child and do everything. He needs to do alot more on a daily basis and he knows I don't bullsh!t. I will never have a child no matter how much I want one if he can't show me that he can be a responsible adult and chip in. He is so LAZY!! Sometimes I want to take his head and smash it into the wall

the problem is, we are both very messy and we are both used to our parents cleaning up after us. So, I clean the house, then like 3 days later it is a disaster. Cups everywhere, his socks, his clothes, my papers, really bad . then it stays like that for like a week, then I clean again and get mad at the both of us for letting it get that way again. We need to get on top of this now so we have good habits later. oh and we never ever make the bed unless we have people coming over
