For those newly engaged!!!

Hi ladies, I know there are a few new brides on here that got engaged over the holidays and I know there will be more within the next few days and with new years coming!!!

So first of all welcome, congrats and happy planning!!!


I know I have been stressed about wedding planning but here are some tips I have and that have been given to me by girls on here!!!

- get a manicure! you will be showing that ring off like its your job!!
- when there are things you want that are on sale, buy them. If you really want them when a sale comes around you are saving money! I knew my wedding shoes I wanted. They went down to such a deep sale and had just 2 pairs left, I purchased them and got them for $150 less than what they sell for!!
- go to trunk shows!! I really wanted my Lazaro dress. I waited until there was a trunk show to purchase even though its far out from my wedding. It is a Spring 2012 dress so it will be discontinued soon, so I purchased for it to be held in the cold room of my bridal salon until my wedding!! :) and again- got $1k off my dress! :)
- buy a bin with file folders and make a section for each vendor to organize information, contracts and receipts! :)
- keep a notebook to take notes on venues and vendors
- try going for a venue in an off month Dec- March!! you will save tons!!
- offer to pay in cash to waive tax! It saves thousands and if you can pay cash, pay cash, no one wants debt after their wedding anyway!!!
- search high and low and negotiate with vendors. I received 73, yes 73 photographer quotes all about 5k for what I wanted, however, I found an extremely well known, reputable photographer with that photojournalism touch that I wanted for $2200
- buy albums after the wedding!! Since you will be getting married and getting tons of money, most places offer you an option to purchase an album after the wedding and give you about 6 months after your proofs are done. Don't spend that money upfront. Take $1k from your gifts and buy a bunch of really nice albums!
- if you cannot afford a videographer, check out wedit
- I love personalized stuff. If you want anything personalized, got to the knot shop. wait until they have their super sales!! normally napkins are $39 for 100, however, during their most discounted sale they are $9.99 for 100 and usually send you a coupon
- enjoy planning, take time for your fiance and you and don't forget to have fun every now and then!! :)
