How much are you donating per person attending your wedding? (You can just answer the poll if you don't feel comfortable answering this.) Are you planning on sending in a list to the charity with the names of people in whose name you are making the donation? Will the amount you donate depend on how many people you are inviting?
FH and I would like to donate money to a charitable organizations that we each feel strongly about, so we're going to be splitting it between 2 charities. I would like to say that 'a donation has been made in your name to X,' but don't know if charities would allow us to do it that way or if we have to just send a check in with no names attached.

Re: For those of you doing donations as favors
We made a donation to the American Cancer Society in loving memory of my father and DH's mother. We didn't supply the names of our guests to AMC for privacy issues.
We made little cards that we tied to a small box of candy explaining that this is what we are doing.
We just selected an arbitrary about by averaged approx $5-6 per person.

Re: For those of you doing donations as favors
I am doing $1 per person...that is the # invited, not the number attending. I am also giving out some candy as favors also, and attached to that bag or box will be a tag saying I also made a donation. I will not be giving the charity a list of names. The donation wil be from us in the name of 'our guests'

Wow, this was my first poll - it sucks that you have to respond to it yourself to see the results!
I wasn't sure about the whole etiquette of whether you supplied the names to the charities or whether you tell the guests that a donation has been made in their name. I suppose we can just say a donation has been made to XYZ charity.
