We bought it in 7/00, and it took about three years to get it to where it is now. Believe me, it's forever going to be a work in progress - things need updating, paint needs refreshing/touching up. We still have one room to go (which is now a catch all; dogs cages, ironing board, unfinished projects). We did everything ourselves except the concrete, the siding, the sheetrock, electric, heating system overhaul, alarm, and cesspool replacement. Everything else was 100% sweat equity. There were definitely days where I wanted to raise the white flag in defeat, but you struggle along because you have no choice. We spent $160,000 on the house and put another $150,000+ into it. It never seems to end.
