For Those of You Getting Married in the Winter

For Those of You Getting Married in the Winter

I'm getting married in Feb and our CH doesn't start til 8:15pm. So my question to you ladies getting married in the winter is What are you doing about pics? I don't want to see my FH before our ceremony but I want day time pics. I'm thinking of having my ceremony at 3:30 to get some day time pics, but that gives us about a four hour gap.

Any suggestions?

I'm getting married in Nov...and am also worried about the same thing. I'm just doing the gap. I feel bad for the BMs...but they will survive : ) I'm not even sure there is much of an option. Most churches have evening mass on Sat...so you have to do it early.

i wish i had that problem im getting married in feb and im afraid i wont have enough time for pics and what not...mass is at 3 (full ceremony) and CH is at 6 so there isnt much room for anything!

For you maybe,if your BP is staying at a hotel that night they can go check in while you and DH get pics done it wont kill 4 hrs but maybe 2

Does your recpetion hall have any nice areas indoors to take pictures? What about are you possibly opposed to seeing each other an hour or two before your wedding so you can get some pictures?

We're a winter wedding also, and other than just having a quick ceremony and hoping to get daylight long enough to get a few pics and taking pics inside, I have no idea what we'll do haha.

There is an area for pics, but it's kinda small and I really want some outdoor pics.

I'm getting married at Fox Hollow also on Feb. 15 '09 and my ceremony starts at 7:00. I wil be checking in early in the Inn next door. I was planning on doing all of my pics with my BM and GM outside and inside before the ceremony and FH will do the same. Unfortunately, FH and I won't have any daytime outside pics together b/c I don't want him to see me before the ceremony either. So we will have night outdoor pics together. But that's ok with me because the backdrop at night is so beautiful and romantic especially in the winter with all the lights. So you can just take pics early outside with everyone else. Don't worry about the gap. I was in a wedding and my girlfriend had a very similar situation. There was a 4hr gap between and it actually worked out fine. The pics took up a lot of time and we didn't have to rush. After pics were done, we went into her hotel room and it gave us a chance to relax. She slipped out of her dress for a while. We freshened our makeup had some wine and before we knew it, it was time for everything to begin.

Where do you live? We are taking pictures in our village...there are cute alleyways with light posts, unique old buildings...we thought it would be cute to take pictures of us and our bridal group walking down the sidewalks...

honestly i dont care much about the 'daytime' pics...My mass is at 430 so it will already be dark by the time its done.....i kind of like the idea of street lit pics and the night aspect.....night pics always appealed to me more....

I have the same problem...I made the church time earlier...we are getting married at 2pm. Its going to be a full mass, so by the time its over I'll only have about 1 hour left of daylight, and its going to be dusk...so we are going to a nearby park by Chateau Briand this way I can still get some of what I want...and then finish off the rest of the pictures at the hall...But my ch starts at 6pm

we are doing pics before the ceremony - only way to get around it really....unless we had an afternoon wedding

How about a day after shoot? There's a bride on here who did more pics the day after. Not sure who she is, but know she used Anjelica Glass . She got her hair re-done and everything, and the pics came out amazing! The pics seemed extremely relaxed and natural, and it made them even more beautiful! the only problem is, the pics are just her and FH, not the full bridal party with man and wife.

We are having our Ceremony at 3:00 in woodbury, the RH is in Queens, and CH starts at 7.

We are going to be going down to Shea Stadium to take pics near the old Stadium before they start completely tearing it down. Or by the new stadium, whichever is standing.

I figured with traffic/travel time and time to take pics we have 3 hours 3 1/2 hours depending on the ceremony time.

That is how we are planning it.

I'd say not to even worry about the time in between wedding & reception. People usually expect there to be a gap and they can deal with it. I usually go back home & get changed during that time. People will figure it out.

I'm getting married in December. The CH begins at 6 and the wedding itself begins at 2. But if you're taking your pictures inside, it probably shouldn't even matter, right? Are you gonna be outside?? I'm doing my pictures in the hall, and personally, i prefer night shots (like seeing it dark out the window). It just looks more romantic

I am taking my pics before the ceremony. I want daylight pics but still wanted an evening ceremony and reception. This works out well because it will give me a chance to go to the cocktail hour and get my hellos out of the way so that I can enjoy the entire reception.

I'm taking my pics before the ceremony. It's purely out of selfish reasons though. FH and I aren't superstitious about seeing eachother or anything, and we wanted to get most of our greetings out of the way and enjoy most of our cocktail hour.

Same here. At first I was a bit hesitant. But after going back and forth with the idea we decided to see each other before the ceremony. We'll make it special and have pictures taken. I want to enjoy every second of my wedding.

I am getting married in the winter and will probably not have daytime pics. I made sure that in the catering hall there are places inside to take pics. I am having a christmas theme so it will be set up really nice. Outside will also have all the lights set up so that will be a nice background.

We live upstate but, his family lives in Roslyn. I don't know where we can take pics around there.
