When we were preparing for our wedding, at the last minute we decided to get a video. My dad passed away suddenly on Dec 5th, and one of my sources of comfort is seeing him alive and well and enjoying himself at our wedding. I hate to sound morbid, but for that reason alone we are so happy to have not only our memories of a wonderful day, but also of my dad looking so happy and proud, and really enjoying himself

We weren't originally going to go with a video - but you never know what happens in life and i really want to have a live record of my wedding - not just pictures - but actual people and voices. Also - so many brides have told me that there is so much going on at your wedding that you are never even going to get to see - you can't be everywhere at once! That's why we're getting a video!

My heart goes out to you and your family My dad passed away on Christmas 11 years ago so I know how difficult it is to lose someone during this time of year when everyone else thinks it's the 'most wonderful time of the year.' You make a great point on the benefits of having a video.

I am sorry that this happened to you!
The same thing happened to my cousin, however quite the opposite of you, 3+ years later she still has not put that video in the player!
I am glad that the video has proved to be of a comfort to you!

Re: for those of you not considering a video...
Dubliner, I am so sorry about your dad. My condolenses. I can definitly relate with the video memories. When my brother died, I never thought I would hear his voice or laugh again, but then one day, my aunt brought over a video from my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary and I was hysterical. I was able to see and hear my brother again. It was such a special moment. I felt all warm and all these memories came alive again. That is one reason we decided to go for the video. We didn't go all out and get a great package, but we will have something that will capture all the people that were there to create wonderful memories on our special day.

If anyone doesn't think they can afford it, check out my budget vendor webpage. Third Planet Video will tape the whole day (not edit) for $300.
