we arent going to have a video. there are plenty of people (my brother included) who are really good with a camera - we dont want to spend the money on it. plus my brother and his best friend have taken all of these video editing classes - theyre really good at it! so they will do something for us - i rather have amazing pictures

we didn't have one. it was really never a second thought. however, dh's cousin used ours to get the ceremony and i can't tell you how happy i am to have that. it's only 15 minutes so we will watch that again. i'm not disappointed at all for not having one during the reception.

We definitley had one! Yes, it was a lot of money, and to me worth every penny! I watch it over and over again, and everytime I did I was like 'cool, when did that happen'..The day goes sooo quick and you dont realize how much you could possibly miss. My SIL and BIL didnt want one so I taped the ceremony and some reception for them and they loved it..my SIL regretted not having a video after I gave them the tape. Another reason (depressing but true)...I watch my video now and some have passed on and I love to see them in the video knowing they were there celebrating our special day!

Re: For those of you not having/ didn't have a video
We originally werent going to - i saw no point in it - but it was one of the few things that FH really wanted. We were only going to get video from the ceremony on but then he said he wanted to see me getting ready and the video was the only way that he could do that.
I'm actually really glad we are getting video now because one of my friends is getting married on the same day that I am - so obviously we are missing each other's wedding- so we promised each other that afterwards we are going to sit down and watch our videos together -
Re: For those of you not having/ didn't have a video
I have one and hardly remember seeing him the entire night. I didn't think it was important until I got mine back and relived my wedding night all over again. You can get just raw footage for a pretty inexpensive price. Mine was rather inexpensive compared to what my friends have paid. I am not trying to talk you in to one, I just know that as I sat there crying watching it, there was so much that I missed that night.

I had one and am so glad that i did. The day went SO FAST and after it was over, it was like everything was a blur. I just got the video the other day, and it is fabulous!! I got to see things i didnt see, and hear everyones warm wishes to us. A friend of mine didnt have one, and she regretted it. But good luck in whatever you decide.

Re: For those of you not having/ didn't have a video
FH are I are torn about getting one. At first I didn't want one, and I'm still not convinced. I may just have someone tape the ceremony and maybe the first dance. Knowing me, I am more likely to look at photos over and over, as compared to a video.
I know photovideonetwork.com is inexpensive if cost is an issue. Budget is also a concern of ours (then again, if it was very important, we'd find a way, you know what I mean?)

Re: For those of you not having/ didn't have a video
We got one and it was the smartest thing we could have done. Honestly we didn't even notice them all day.
My parents were totally against us getting a video they thought it was a TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY. Well the day came and went and I thought well maybe they were right I remember it all quite well. UMM NOT TRUE AT ALL. We got our raw footage about 2 weeks ago and I can honestly say OMG it is the BEST decision we made. They captured every detail - my husband and I had NO CLUE many of these things went on - they got friends and family doing some of the most hysterical things that we would have totally missed - people we never got to talk to or see were on there. My parents were SO IMPRESSED that they not only reimbursed us for the raw footage that they thought was stupid BUT THEY BOUGHT themselves a copy of the raw footage they thought it was so priceless.
If you have elderly grandparents etc it is nice because they will forever be in your video and you will have a record of them someday and not just a photo of them to show your children and grandchildren.
Honestly I don't think you need to get an elaborate video or spend a lot of money an in camera edit is good if you don't have the money to spend - but get something even if it is the most basic you might not appreciate it now but after the wedding it will be priceless to you.

Re: For those of you not having/ didn't have a video
We are definitly getting one! I know my cousins videos and things like that once a year my family would sit around and watch them and look at my grandma talk into the microphone ( she since passed and this is the only video we have of her) pictures are nice but its so wonderful to be able to hear her voice again. I also want to see FH getting ready and all the drama that will be going on at his house. and I know he would like to see me getting ready as well. The video is definitly something we want so we can show our children and let them laugh at us one day lol there are also things like the first dance that pictures cant really capture your emotions to the words, same with saying your vows, and the toasts and speeches at the wedding. All things I would want captured on a video.

Re: For those of you not having/ didn't have a video
I am definitely having one, one of my best friends didnt and regrets it soooo much. They spent a lot of $$$ on their wedding and figured to skimp by not doing the video. An uncle taped it for her but it is nothing like a professional video, she also felt bad because he had to tape instead of enjoying the day.
I would suggest getting a video even if it is a really cheap one, you cant change it after the fact if you dont get one.

We are definitely having one. There was never a second thought. Go over to the Bride's Review board and read how many brides that didn't get video wrote that they regretted it.

I agree. I just can't spend anymore money on this wedding. Personally a lot of the wedding videos I've seen don't look that great so I decided to skip it.

Re: For those of you not having/ didn't have a video
There was no question of us not having a video. Pictures and video are different things - pics capture moments, frozen, but video captures the actual day in movement, sound, etc. We haven't gotten ours yet, but I can't wait.
Try my budget list - I have someone on there who will give you an edited video for $600.
