For those of you that Registered for China...

Has anyone registered for fine china ? (sounds so cheesy) And if you did, where did you register for it?

And if you feel like it, post a pic of your style.

Yes mine is lenox it sells for $130 a place setting. I originally registered for it at BBB b/c it was a little cheaper there but they didn't carry it in the store and wanted my guests to pay for shipping which made it more expensive then macys, so I just registered for it at macys instead.

Thanks, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't being unreasonable by picking out china that costs $125/setting. FH thinks It's crazy to spend so much on it b/c you only use 2-3 times a year.

It is alot but your not forcing people to buy it for you.. its a wish list and alot of people like to give that kind of gift.

Its better to register for it and hopefully get some then later have to buy it on your own

eta. I don't think its unreasonable the last few showers I went to the china was in the $100 - $150 range.
I got all my place settings and some of the serving pieces as well.

That's exactly what I said. I'm glad I am in the same price range!

Thanks for the help!

I registered for my china at fortunoff and my placing was 5pc for $55. I actually went for a price that i thought people would buy. I loved the expensive ones but i thought to myself that i really wanted fine china. I knew that people will not pay 150 for 5 pc. But i love my china that i picked and i actually was given my full set. I also recommend to register for china only and not casual. People will tend to buy the casual instead of the fine china because of the price difference.

I am getting my grandmother's china. I just registered for accent plates. It's $129 a place setting, but is usually on sale for $90. Solitaire by Lenox.

I registered for Waterford China that is $120 a place setting. It's something you'll use for the rest of your life and perhaps pass down to your children. My mom uses my great grandmother's china at every holiday and probably about 10 other times during the year - some sunday dinners, dinner parties, sometimes she and my dad will get chinese takeout and serve it on the china cause they wanted to!

Register for the china that you want, and if you dont get much of it at your shower or wedding, you can slowly purchase pieces over the course of your marriage.

This is our china. It's Murray Hill by Lenox. It's around $130, but I've seen it on sale for as low as $89.95. We got 6 place settings and all of the serving pieces at my shower.
