a lot of saving.we dont go out like we used too, since I am out of work FI has been doing a lot of overtime, and we just save.
it gets a little fustrating, but in the end it will all be worth it

Re: For those of you who are buying a house and planning a wedding at the same time....
FH and I decided that he would take on the stress of the house and I would take on the stress of the wedding... so far it's been working. As for $$, we are paying for most of our wedding, but we are both pretty good about our money (HIM, more than me though)
Other than that, it is a lot of stress, but we've managed to deal with it, we just keep saying, 130 days or 129 days or 128 days, etc. and then it's all over! woopee!

Re: For those of you who are buying a house and planning a wedding at the same time....
My parents are giving us the Down Payment for our house when we decide where and what we want.We picked that instead of them paying for the wedding.
Ronnie and I are paying for the entire wedding ourselves. and the bonus I get yearly helps to.
But I won't do without something bc I am getting married .
YOu shop less.
U know that if you purchase something now that extra $$ could have went for something else.
I paid off my Picture and Video guy already.
So that is a big thing! I also think people have no idea how much things cost til they start spending!!!
Its like HELLO welcome to the real world!
Plus these days you can get a mortage with no $$ down ask Marcella.
She knows!

Lost of $$$$ and STOMACH ACHES!!!, LOL!!!Seriously, it takes alot of patience and hard work. If you want it hard enough, you'll get it
I am closing in 2 weeks and getting married in 3 months. IT IS VERY HARD AND NOT TO BE TAKEN LIGHTLY but if you save, you can do it.

In order to do this we moved in with my paretns, until the house is getting built. Not paying rent for the last year has definitly helped, even thought we thought our house would be built by now.

We're still figuring out how we're going to do it, but I guess you do what you have to do to get what you want.

I have always lived at home and have been saving $$ since highschool. My husband is a good saver too, so with our combined efforts we were able to by a house when we got engaged. As for the wedding, we saved & saved as much as we could. Our parents also helped us out tremendously. They paid for the hall and we took care of all the vendors.

Save, save, sacrifice, and save. FH and I bought the house in Dec. He was responsible for the down payment. I am responsible for the wedding. We just saved a lot and learned that we didn't need to go out to dinner, it's okay to bring PB&J for lunch to work! And those old clothes, well, they'll make it another season. I must admit though, I really do want to buy some new clothes!

Re: For those of you who are buying a house and planning a wedding at the same time....
oh my, its so awful. i mean its wonderful, but really really difficult. i am not used to living on virtually no spending budget. i constantly think about money. there are so many things for the house that we need (moved in feb. 27th). and of course, there are so many things for the wedding that we (I) want. we're planning this wonderful wedding & we have this beautiful house, but i feel poor & i'm miserable about it. geez, i sound like a spoiled brat.

Oh man - its CRAZY I tell ya! Thank God for commission checks b/c thats how we afforded the down payment for the house and the vendor deposits. Then we started saving saving saving for everything else. Oh, and we don't have any furniture either!!

Re: For those of you who are buying a house and planning a wedding at the same time....
Dh took care of house stuff and I took care of wedding stuff. We closed on March 30th and got married a month and a half later...life was stressful!!! It did not help that we were planning long distance. But the good news is that now that we are back from our HM we finally get to move in. WOO HOO! For us splitting it up really worked well since neither one of us had to overly stress about two things.

Re: For those of you who are buying a house and planning a wedding at the same time....
you all have made me feel 'normal'. we got engaged on 12/7 closed on a house 12/30 and our wedding is 9/18/04 we've save a little and put a 1/3 on the hall.... but the worst is that we have been remodeling 3 major rooms in our house over the last 6 months so we've either been tired or cranky.if we can survive this... i know that we can survive pretty much anything
