For those of you who are getting married in a chuch
Original post by Ericia
if you are getting married in a church, how soon after the ceremony will your cocktail hour commense?
My ceremony starts at 3:00, and there is a good chance that it will end at 3:45. I was thinking of having the cocktail hour start at 7:00. Is that unreasonable for the guests?

My Ceremony is at 3 and Cocktail hour is at 7. I wanted to have enough time to take pictures before cocktail hour starts. Do what makes you happy its your day you shouldnt feel rushed!

Mass at 3:15 and CH starts at 6:30. Guests can arrive early and light snacks and drinks will be served in a side area for them.

Thank you all SOOOO much! With all of your help, we have concluded that the ceremony will start at 3 (the church is about 10 minutes away from the hall) and have the cocktail hour start at 6:30.
We spoke with the banquet manager at our hall, and has agreed to house the guests in the restaurant with some champaign, cheese and crackers, until the CH starts. I thought that was so nice of him and very accomodating.
Again, thank you ladies

Mine is the same time frame as yours. I have been to other weddings like that before and it doesn't seem to be a problem.

Re: For those of you who are getting married in a chuch
My ceremony starts at 3:00pm. Cocktail starts at 7:30pm. I know its a a lot of tme but I am getting married on 4th of July weekend and my hall is out east.
I really want to do my best not to miss cocktail hour. So anyone who has to kill time is going straight to the hotel to check in and my FMIL is hosting a little cocktail party in her suite. Then the shuttle will take guest straight to the hall.

Our Mass is at 11 and the Cocktail hour which is 20 minutes away begins at 12:30. Neither place would budge on the time, my parents wouldn't let us have a PM wedding so we're stuck with it. We're skipping the recieving line to save some time though and tacking 1/2 hour extra of cocktail hour.
