Did you guys book an MC & DJ combo? My FH and I met with a DJ last night and they kinda convinced us to get an MC with a DJ..Before last night we were just gonna go with the one DJ, now we decided we want an MC too. At first, my FH thought that having an MC might be to over bearing for some of the guests. Like we didn't want the MC trying to get my 80yr old g-ma up to dance if she didn't want to. But we thought that maybe we should have an MC to keep the party going, instead of just having the DJ behind the table.

We booked both an MC and a DJ. My DJ is a family friend and I know he would not steer us wrong: he said sometimes it is better with all the announcing that goes on. You can always ask the MC to be 'toned down' and maybe not be so pushy in trying to get people to dance. FH and I are very low key when it comes to this stuff and our MC will simply be there to announce and motivate slightly.

I have a DJ who also does the MC part. I have seen him many times and he is fabulous.

Just a DJ.. I was worried an MC might be too much for my OOT guests that have never been to a spunky LI wedding before.

Our DJ will double as the MC and he will have an assistant with him so no extra charge.

I booked Vinny from High Voltage, and just Vinny, he will be doing all the announcements. I don't want someone on the mic all night, plus all the young people at the wedding are big dancers anyway, one of them was even a dancer for a DJ (the kind that goes to parties and gets everyone to dance).
Just depends on if you think your guests are self-motivating or not.

MC & DJ---- the MC kind of keeps the party going and in order.... does your announcements so the DJ doesn't have to deal with that, annouces cake cutting, father/daughter dance.. etc.... & if the party is dead... maybe they can help. A DJ is just that, you want your DJ to be able to focus on playing music since that is what he does best!
Just make it clear you don't want your MC super involved & dancing all over the place.. just basic announcements and minor involvement. (if that is what you are looking for of course)
