how long did it take you to put them all together? FH and I have a while till our wedding (at least 2 years), but considering our schedules, I was wondering if we should start the little stuff now, like making the pocketfolds for the invitations and puting the backing on. Not the actual invite itself, because we have to finalize a date and RH, but the other stuff.
Thanks!!!!

Re: for those of you who did your own invites
are you planning to make the actual pocketfold??
if so, i would strongly advice that you LOOK HERE. this couple did EVERYTHING diy.
you'll have to buy large sheets of cardstock, a rotary cutter, and adhesive.
remember you'll also need envelopes, so if you're thinking of making 'odd sized' invites, you'll have to order/make special envelopes.
if you clear your calendar, you can make the pocketfolds in one weekend.
i have pics of my works in progress in an album. granted, i didn't diy the pocketfold itself... i'm anal about straight lines and i didn't want to hurt someone if they didn't turn out right.

yeah, making the pocketfolds. I found a website with instructions on how to do it. I found invites i like on ivitations by d awn, and they would be around 300 or so, but I like the elegent look of the pocketfold invites, we are having a winter wedding, probably in the evening if we can afford it, so wanted something elegent and classy, but we are both artistic people, so I thought it would be cool to make our own invites

since you're both artistic, i think you can 'crank' them out in a weekend or two. you can do them assembly-line: all the cutting, then all the scoring, etc.
did you check out the link i included?
that couple did a great job

I would wait until you decide for sure what all the info is, cause you will want to see a sample before you put them all together.
once you have the date and time and place, I would start putting them together.
The cutting and scoring takes patience, but you could put everything together within a month's time if you had to with a busy schedule.
