I hate having to say goodbye. I'm so sad right now. After spending the weekend with FH it just feels so horrible to have to leave him; I hate this! I just feel like we should be living together, and now that we're engaged, it makes it so much more difficult to have to go home to my parents' house. I love my family, and I know that they do all that they can for me, but I just don't feel like there home is my home anymore. We're not moving in together until April...an eternity away. (On top of that, we live 45 min away from each other, and we've been making the commute to see one another for five years!!!!) Anyone dealing with a similar situation? Those of you living with your FH you really are so lucky that every night you get to lie in bed next to him.

Re: for those of you who don't yet live with FH
I completely understand...FH and I spent all of our time together while in college and then we came home and he moved into his parent's house and I went to mine and at times it really stinks. I even said to him that all our little fights boil down to the fact that we don't live with one another. I know it's hard, but in all honesty, I wouldn't want to live with him before we're married- I am really looking forward to the day when we don't have to say goodbye because we're husband and wife.

Re: for those of you who don't yet live with FH
Trust me I know exactly where you're coming from. I live in Brooklyn and FH lives in Queens (40 mins apart) so we're lucky if we get to see eachother more than 3 times a week. It's really hard, especially when I'm having a bad day and the only thing I want is to have him next to me and I know that I'm not gonna see him for another 2 or 3 days. The thought that makes me keep going is knowing that in a few months we'll be living together forever and then all the commuting and days without seeing eachother will be worth it

FH also lives 45 min's away and we only see each other on the weekends. This has been going on for 3 years. In the begining it was hard but we have now gotten used to it. April is only 6 months away and it will be here before you know it.

I have to be honest and let you know that we lived only 10 minutes from one another, and I suppose I'm selfish, but seeing him leave my place I was always sad. We did however, decide to move in with each other before our wedding, so we could save money. And not for nothing, it's THE BEST going to sleep every night with your future husband. Hence our newborn son . But I feel your pain, I sincerly do. But before you know it, you won't have to worry about it anymore. Time truly does fly

I feel the same way. My FH and I only live 10 minutes from each other and it's still so hard to let him leave at night. I only see him 2 times (if I'm lucky) during the week and then on the weekends. He's a physical therapist and an athletic trainer so he's working 2 jobs right now. He's super busy which will work out for us in the long run, but it's still so hard. Knowing that I can't fall asleep every time I'm at his house because I have to drive home *****. We do spend most of our weekends at each others houses though because it is a pain to drive back and forth. even though it's only minutes away.

I'm in the same situation. Fh lives in Brooklyn, and I live in Queens. We have a 30-40 min commute (and it's all lights and stupid traffic ) We have been doing this for 5 years. On top of that - he works nights - so I only see him Sat and Sunday. Sundays are the worse bc I know that theres 5 whole days and nights that we have to wait to see each other. He always tells me that pretty soon we'll be making dinner together to eat every night.
Its def hard, but at least we all have our wedding night and the rest of our lives to make up for it. I cant wait!!

Ladies! Enjoy it while you can! I know that sounds mean but i'm telling you that things certainly change! I wish so badly that me and FH didn't live together yet. I miss it. We don't snuggle up every night like we did when we didn't live together. We don't do alot of things now that we live together. Don't get me wrong- I love living with FH but I miss that whole excitement thing. Waiting for him to call, getting all dressed up to go out and having to see his reaction when he sees me. Now he sees me getting ready and I get a - you look nice. Ok, but it's nothing compared to what he used to say! It's just different. When the comfy factor sets in things are a little different. You have your whole life to enjoy each others company. For now, just enjoy the excitement of the next time you are going to see him. When you talk on the phone but can't see each other and you kind of yearn inside. I know, I know! But you don't get that back. Cherish your time apart and it makes your time together that much sweeter!
you know i really cant agree with this 100% FH moved into my house for about 6 months after we were dating 4 months. We then lived in a gorgeous apartment together for 2 years, and just this month bought our house together. When i get dressed up, like this weekend, he goes crazy over the way i look, and when he walks in the door he always gives me a kiss hello. I wake up in teh morning looking like u can only imagine, and he is right there telling me how beauftiful i am!! This happens everyday. There is a level of comfort that i personally love, and we tell eachother every day that we love eachother, and before he leaves for work, since he goes earlier than me, he ALWAYS gives me and our dog a kiss goodbye. We go out to dinner 3-4 times a week to a nice restaurant. And on our yearly anniversary and valentines day he we go to a 5 star restaurant in the city to celebrate every year. and he always sends me dozens of roses on anniversarys, birthdays and valentines day. he never forgets. its been almost 3 years we are living on our own, my time alone is when he works late, i can hang out with my girlfriends, or just sit in bed and watch tv. i also want to mention that we work together so aside from the fact that we live together we now work together at his company. i cant say the magic is gone, but there is a comfort of just knowing its our house, and its our life, and our families are not involved.
Our families joke around about how we are doing things backwards but with things being the prices that they are, its hard to do things like our parents did back then. And its great that both families love our choices we have made and stick behind us 100%

Re: for those of you who don't yet live with FH
Well to be honest..I give you and your FH a great deal of respect...It must be diffcult...However you will be spending the rest of your life with him....As hard as it is now, it will pay off in the end...
So enjoy the time that you do have with your family *cherish it*, because it will only last a short while longer...
But really I don't live with my FH yet, I chose to leave my house in a white dress and considering the fact my parents perfer it that way as well.....In addition, MILK IT--paying bills and hotwater, electric, cable and cooking can't be as fun as it sounds--Haha Just a cute little joke!
But hang tough- you have done it for five years!!!!!Think about it April will be here in 6 MONTHS...
Stay strong my dear! You can do it!

Re: for those of you who don't yet live with FH
I am another one who lives an hour away from my FH... i'm in eastern nassau, he's in the north bronx.. I'll be moving in with him when we get married. its really tough figuring out who's going to who's house and everything, but we have started staying over at each others house... It is so nice falling asleep and waking up with him (even if he's not going to sleep or getting up at the same time) Just knowing that he is there makes it so much nicer. But as the other girls said, it will happen all soon... 3 months til '07 and then we will get them forever!

I know exactly how you feel. I live in philadelphia and FH lives in Miami (pretty far!!!!). We get to see each other once a month and it is soooooooo hard. We have been doing this for over a year now and it doesn't get easier. On top of that after we do get married in September we will continue to do the long distance thing for 6 months until I finish my residency.

well, ladies. I have to say that I feel for you. I moved in with FH when we got engaged. It felt so natural. Being engaged felt like we were married. Everything in our relationship got even better, not having to say goodbye at night brought us closer. He still goes crazy when I look extra pretty, and we snuggle every night before we go to sleep for a few minutes. We both lived with our parents beforehand, so the shift was sooo good. Now that we are married, things are just as great. Be patient!! Your time will come

Girls i know exactly what u are talking about. I live in queens and my fh lives in bensonhurst, brooklyn. we've been together for 8 years now. I don't get to see him everyday, and i wish i would. when i'm feeling lonley or sad for some reason I wish he was right there. He tells me all the time, don't worry honey, next year we'll be sleeping every night together, and we'll be waking up every morning together forever. he melts my heart when he tells me that. i cacn't wait.. i love him soooooooooo much!!!
