For those of you who have been successful in weight loss...

Hey girls...I have 2 months until my wedding and I have not been very successful in losing weight. I am eating about 1000 a day (low carb) and working out 3 times a week. Is it possible that I am not eating enough? I am stumped as to what is going on. I used to lose weight very easily before I went on birth control

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am hoping to lose at least 10 lbs before July 25th. Thanks ladies!

It is possible that you are not getting enough fat into you body. I would suggest not eating after 7:30 too. You might be gaining muscle too.
I hope this helps.

Definitely try increasing your calories by 100-200 more a day...get them through fruits, veggies, high fiber foods and light protein.

Also, try increasing your resistance when you exercise....and switch it up...when your body gets used to the same thing, it slows down your weight loss efforts. Also, try doing cardio for 10-15 before weight training and then for 30 minutes afterwards....you burn a hell of a lot more calories doing cardio after weight training because your muscles are already tired.

Hope this helps!! Good luck and I know you will look beautiful either way!!!

what are your workouts?
how often are you eating?
do eat within an hour of your workouts?
what foods make up your 1000 calories?

you need to vary your workouts and focus on weight training at least 3x week, fast paced workouts will give you cardio benefit too
eat 5-6 times a day, lean protein and veggies, easy on fruit that is high is sugar, nothing but complex carbs and small portions, like 1/2cup wheat pasta
always eat within an hour of workout, even if just a shake, your body needs something
64 oz of water a day
no alcohol and limited caffiene

Drink lots of water. Eat more veggies, protein (little starch). Eat five meals for the day (small meals though). You should never be starving. How long are you working out for?

I would suggest a nutritionist. You may not be getting all the nutrients you need. Also, if you are not currently, try keeping a food journal in case there are 'extra's' you are not aware of.

I would suggest WW. I was not eating a lot but couldn't lose the weight. Started WW and lost almost 8lbs in the first week and was eating more than before, it was just better food. I have kept the weight off too. Its a lot cheaper than a nutritionist. In 2 months if you really stick to it you can lose more than the 10lbs.

I lost weight using weight watchers.com. I was never big to begin with so I really only wanted to lose like 10-15 lbs. I didn't want to go to the meetings cause I was not heavy and felt bad going, so I did the online plan. Well anyway, if you stick to it, it works! I went from like 145lbs to 125lbs in like 2 months (mind you I'm 5'9') so I think that is the lowest I am going to get...
FM me if you have questions!

I'm part of WW..you might to consider joining its great. I've lost 26 lbs since January.

It's important that you eat enough calories to make sure you're getting your nutrients- especially on the days you work out!

Good luck!

Up the number of days you workout. 3 Days a week is really just to maintain what you have.

You should be having a cardio workout at least 30 minutes 5x a week, at least 4x a week, to expect to shed lbs.

Try Billy Blanks cardio tai bo tapes... they give you a cardio and strength-training workout at the same time, I love his Amped series.

make sure that you are eating enough so that your metabolism doesn't go into 'starvation mode' and slows down..

also if you are doing a lot of working out, you could be gaining some muscle so the scale might not necessarily reflect your true progress!

honestly i don't think your eating enough...i eat about 1500 calories a day..you should be eating 6 small meals everyday..it speeds up your metabolism...as far as exercise,...i work out 5 days a week, for about an hour a day..I do cardio for 30 minutes and strength for 30 as well..definately up the cardio..3 days a week may not be enough..and drink plenty of water..it keeps you feeling full longer

Re: For those of you who have been successful in weight loss...

My 1000 calories are:
bfast- egg and spinach cups (south beach recipe book)
lunch- individual tuna cup, low-fat string cheese, carrots, sugar free jello
dinner- varies (always protein, carb, and vegetable)
snack- 100 calorie snack pack
beverage- lots of water and milk at dinner

I definitely need to increase my number of workouts. I use the urban rebounder trampoline and dvd and I also have an elliptical. I will try more strength training.

Thank for all of the ideas ladies!

you look really cute in your photo! honestly I got so busy the weeks before I barely had time to eat. I did a exercise class which had many reps at a low weight, and I ate peanut m&m's while I was running around.
Also remember, after your final fitting, stop losing weight. My dress was kind of loose at the wedding, and it did not look as good. I had to keep pulling it up.
Good luck!

If you're on bcp it's much harder to lose weight. Your body thinks it's pregnant so it likes to hold onto weight-- I went through all that.

You should drink as much icewater as you can and really limit salt and starchy carbs to minimize bloating. Keep up cardio and try to add pilates if you can to lengthen your muscles.

Hi,

I work at Jenny Craig and i can tell you that you're not eating enough. it should be 1200-1500 calories a day. continue with your workouts- esp cardio. the weights are good, but remember that muscle weighs more than fat- which is why you may not think you're losing weight. drink LOTS of water and eats lots of salad and veges. fruits are good, but they do have sugar. if you like yogurt, try Danon lite and fit- it's only 60 calories and makes a filling snack. you can join the short term program at Jenny Craig if you're just trying to get off a few pounds before your wedding. it DOES work. I'm not biased-WW works well too. If you belong to a gym one of the trainers or nutritionist can stear you in the right direction. good luck!

I love how everyone is giving you advice as to how many calories to eat without even asking you how tall you are. LOL.

1000 is probably too little, but how tall are you??

Re: For those of you who have been successful in weight loss...

Eating less then 1200 calories a day puts your body into starvation mode and your body starts to conserve the fat it has to survive. I also don't recommend low carb because if you go off of it you gain everything back and then some. Just try to eat healthy with the occasional splurge to prevent cravings. There are great tips on shape.com and a site called hungry girl that gives tips on new healthy foods. I notice when I stop thinking about what I'm eating I tend to lose weight even if I splurge. It's important to be active. Mix up your workouts with interval training and weights. If you have time at lunch to take a walk even if its only for 15-20mins it can really add up. I have a desk job and I hate sitting all day. Good luck and remember it's more important to be healthy then to loose weight. If you have that mindset the pounds with come off without you trying.
