For those of you who have been successful in weight loss...

Original post by tstaa1vw

Hey girls...I have 2 months until my wedding and I have not been very successful in losing weight. I am eating about 1000 a day (low carb) and working out 3 times a week. Is it possible that I am not eating enough? I am stumped as to what is going on. I used to lose weight very easily before I went on birth control

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am hoping to lose at least 10 lbs before July 25th. Thanks ladies!

You are definitely not eating enough calories. When you do that, your body goes into starvation mode and you will not lose weight. I second the weight watchers advise. They will tell you how many pts you should be eating. Or, do some research online...to find a formula to help you calculate.

You definately need to be consuming more calories. I think 1200-1500 is the norm for someone who is dieting and working out. In addition to your cardio workouts, you should be strength training. I know, it sounds hideous, but, it will help your body burn fat more efficiently.

Totally agree, you need to go at least 4-5x a week, and mix it up dont do the same routine every day, or else your body will get immune. I have been doing 2 Total body conditioning and then cardio the rest of the week and i try to do yoga at the end of the week to wind my body down.
WW works! I lost 15lbs on WW. No lie. I was 135 now i am 120. I need to be at 115 for my height (5f 0in) so iam working on it.

Definitely aren't eating enough...

Try breaking up your calories into 5 meals. I am 5ft and I eat just under 1500 calories a day. On workout days (weight training) I am closer to 1500 and on cardio only days I am a bit less.

My meals look like this...
1.Cup of egg whites, cream of wheat, 1tbs peanut butter
2. Protein Shake (after workout), 2 plain rice cakes
3. Chicken, Broccoli, Brown Rice
4. Greek Yogurt/ Strawberries
5. Chicken and Salad (or some protein and veggie), orange

On cardio only days I dont have any fruit, rice cakes or brown rice. I add 1 tbs of peanut butter to meal 2 and 4.

I weight train 4x per week and do cardio 5-6 times. Try to mix up your cardio. Do some interval training a few times a week and then do some steady state training the other days.

If you have any questions let me know!
But eat, eat , eat!! Your body needs food to work!

AND LOTS OF WATER!!!

You should try the south beach diet, you cut out sugars and carbs. My best friend and I both did it and dropped 10 pounds, plus it works wonders on your waist line!

I lost 8lbs in 2 weeks on South Beach Diet. It's absolute H@LL the first 2 weeks because you can't have any sugar or carbs, but that's what helps you lose the weight. If you just want to lose the pounds for the wedding, I would go on that. I always go on South Beach about a month before I go on vacation each year and I always seem to lose the weight. And it's hard for me to lose weight! Just be careful...you don't want to be slipping out of your dress! =O

FM me if you want info on South Beach.

What are you doing when you work out? I find lots and lots of cardio works best for me and most women. I do about 4 times a week 45 minutes to an hour of good hard cardio (running, elyptical, stairs, bike) but make sure you are keeping your heart rate up the whole time. GL I know it is frustrating! PS I also hear every bride loses about 5 pounds a week or two before the wedding just from being frantic...it happened to me!
