For those of you who have ordered your dress -

Was it what you orginally had pictured it to be, or is it something you never would have imagined yourself wearing?
I have seen many people post that they would have never picked out their dress themselves if the attendant in the store hadn't helped. I know I had this experience myself. I thought I wanted something really simple, with no beading or anything and not strapless! And what did I wind up ordering? A strapless gown with lots of beading, crystals, and embroidery! Go figure!

I showed the woman at the shop a picture of what I wanted and when I tried it on, I hated it. I didn't want strapless or spaghetti straps, and i ended up with a dress with spaghetti straps. I thought I wanted poofy, and when I tried that on, I felt like I was sitting on top of a cake! So I went with an A-line instead. I never thought I'd get organza, but it was so shimmery and beatiful, and laid so nicely on me. The dress I am ordering on Friday was the first dress I tried on. When I tried on other dresses more like what I thought I wanted originally, nothing compared to the first dress.

It was not really what I picture. Exactly the same as you, I thought I wanted somethign very simple, an A-line with no elaborate beading or lace. I knew I wanted strapless, but all those photos I ripped out of dresses that I loved and tried on just didn't do it for me.

I ended up picking a dress with just the right amount of beading that wasn't overboard for me. It was just beautiful! I can't wait until it comes in and I only just ordered it a few weeks ago! lol

Edited to add: I also ended up going with a ballgown, not an A-line as I first thought.

i never thought i would go strapless, but this one dress that i tried on, looked like it was made for my weirdly shaped, petitite-5foot tall-buxom-hippy-soccer-legged body.

woo hoo! picked it out on saturday!

all of the dresses that i ripped out of books looked soo weird on me. my advice would be try on the ones you like, then let the lady at the bridal shop pick out a few for you--hey, it's her job, so she might know better than you.

I knew I wanted to have something with color in it—not as much as I do have—so all the dresses I tried on had some color and most of them were A-line, mostly all the dress I tried on looked nice one me- but when I put on MY dress everyone said it was me ?

I always thought that I'd get a plain non-ballgown dress. My gown is a-line but it's so beaded - total opposite of what I had pictured.

Well I knew I wanted a halter top and that's what I ordered. The only thing is it has a lot of 'heavy beading' according to the tag. It's weird bc I'm usually a very simple dresser with solid colors and not a lot of flare AT ALL!! So I thought it was really weird that 'the one' for me had a lot of beading. But it's a beautiful dress and I couldn't imagine myself getting married in anything else!!!

I wanted something very trendy nothing puffy, I wanted something so different. I ended up getting everything I said I didn't want,Go figure.

I always pictured myself if a dress with a BIG ballgown skirt (lot's of tulle), but when I put one of those on....I looked like a big snowball! Then at another store I told the saleslady what I liked and didn't like and she took out 4 dresses. The 1st one was it!

Not that I hadn't considered the style I got but rather it was of my least favorites on my list...what I THOUGHT I wanted - princess - ballgown turned out to be my least favorite
Don't get me wrng I LOVED the way the big ball gown dresses looked but when it came down to it...my FH is not a big guy...It would have been too much dress for me to stand next to him in...in reality a simple lace a-line dress with detailed crystals and beading worked better for me...

I saw my gown in a magazine and absolutely fell in love with it. At first I couldn't find it in the stores i went to, but finally it came up and i adore it!!

I don't think I knew what I wanted, until I saw it! Originally I didn't want strapless, but I ended up loving the strapless dresses!

It's not what I pictured for myself. But when I tried it on, I immediately could picture myself wearing it down the aisle. I thought I wanted something simple with lace, no beading - what did I get? Beading, no lace. The general shape of the dress is what I wanted though - A-line.
