For those of you who ordered BM dresses online...

who did you use, how was your experience and who did you use for alterations?
I am thinking about RK bridals no frills program but am a little concerned about the prices for alterations and really just nervous in general about ordering online.

TIA!

I would highly recommend going somewhere to try on the dresses before you order them online. I was in a wedding where the bride ordered the dresses online without actually seeing them on a real person, and while they were pretty, we pretty much had to tape them to ourselves so we didn't give everyone a free show

def try them on.. RK has a lot of dresses and the best part is you can just walk in whenever... on the weekends its best to get there when they open.(lines form for the fitting rooms - not a big deal but just an fyi)

i ordered thru RK.. after i faxed over the form someone called me right away and was helpful with the order... (i got a quote from another online stroe first and then they matched it and took an addtl 5% off)

gownsales.com i heard is good for online too..

I ordered online and it was the smartest decision i made!!

Firstly i went to a bridal store and tried on the BM dresses then picked 'the one'. After i picked it the store said they wanted $220 per dress...well i went to netbride.com b/c of all the raves on LIW and ordered the same exact dresses for $135! They came in 3 weeks ago (a month early) and they are absolutely perfect. The girls will be getting them altered themselves and im really happy about how much we saved on the watters & watters dress. I highly reccomend netbride.com the BM Dress is in my album

I also used NetBride. They came out great! And the customer service was really good.

We did try them on in a store first though...

I used NetBride.com too and I was really happy with them. The girls did go to a bridal store to try them on first, but when the store wouldn't match the quote that I got from NetBride I just ordered them online. My girls live all over the world so they wouldn't have gotten them altered in the store anyway. The one girl that lives on LI is going to go to the place that I bought my bridal gown. They will still cap alterations for her, but I think they're $10 more than if she had bought in the store.

I must admit... I bought my dress at RK bridal but am not using them for alterations. I thought those prices were ridiculous! My aunt is doing my alterations and bustling. As for the girl's dresses, my aunt, once again is doing their alterations. We bought them online at a nice shop in PA....She had the best prices in town! Store's name: Arnella's Bridal shop in Butler, PA

I used RK and so far so good. The BM all live in different areas so I figured that they can find a place to do the alterations near them.

RK is great b/c if you find the dress online for cheaper, they match it and reduce it by 5%

I used RK for the same reasons you chose. The dresses were $35 less each than they were at the bridal stores I saw them at and since it came to $110, there wasn't tax (and I picked them up myself since I work in the city).

I had a great experience with them!!!

Thanks for all the info ladies!

Does anyone have the names of some good places for alterations in Nassau County?

I used Perfect Bridesmaids.com. They had the cheapest prices I found on my Forever Yours dresses (and I did check RK Bridal, Pearls Place, etc, but some of them didn't carry Forever Yours), no tax, the dresses came in really fast, and they're perfect. However, we're having a family member alter them, so I can't help you there, but I've heard wonderful stuff about Phyllis from Bridal Elegance. You might want to ask her prices on the dresses you've chosen, though!
