For those of you who printed your own envelopes for invites???!!!!

OK so I am trying to figure it out on my computer/printer last night. My dad helped me but we couldn't figure out how to set it up so we can do the return address on the back flap of the envelope.

Did anyone use WORD and want to share how they did that if they actually were able to figure it out?! THANKS!!!

AND....my RSVP envelope is 3.5 x 5.25 and we could not for the life of me figure out how to set it up so it would print on that card. We tried and it did have my address written on it but in like Font Size 7 for some reason it wouldn't adjust to a bigger font size. we were thinking bec it is too small. So if anyone has any advice on how they worked that out---that would be great as well

TIA!!!!!!!!

Hey Catie!

It took me FOREVER to figure out how to do it in word. I had our return address already printed on the envelope, but I wanted to print the guests address on them..

I did a mail merge to get the adresses into word. Hm I cant remember exactly what steps I took.

Let me finish something I am working on at work, and then I'll try and retrace my steps.. I know how frustrating they are!

I usually set up the template as if I were printing on a regular sized sheet of paper and adjust the margins to where I want it to fall on the envelope... know what I mean? (hard to explain..)

OMG, it was the biggest pain the arse with the envelopes! What I did so I didn't screw up the enveloples was cut paper to the size to do practice runs.

Go into MS Works to set it up. When you go to the envelope piece it gives you the option to print on the back flap.

Works was so much better than word to print it.

UPDATE:

Okay, so what I did was:

1. Change the paper size to the size of your envelope. (make sure dimensions are correct for landscape)

2. Click on mail merge.

3. Select Recipients

4. Match Fields

5. Update All

6. Edit Individual Sheets

7. This is where you have to change the font, size, orientations and placement of your addresses. I recommend doing several tests on precut paper for your envelopes before actually testing it out on the envelopes.

8. Make sure you know the right way the paper should be inserted into the printer. I had it right on my testing paper but did it wrong when I printed the first envelope.

Let me know if you have any questions. If you want, I'll give you my number and try to walk you through it.

I did it as a regular document, I think . Meaning I didnt choose envelopes, I just changed the paper size. Im not sure how it would work in MS Works.

oh ok so dont even bother doing envelope feature just do a document. now when you do mail merge does that change it?? because mail merge for when you do envelopes is different right? I feel if you do a mail merge into a word document it will mess up the dimensions idk?

I have office 07, so my steps may be a lil off..

but i just chose mailings, and then select recipients; it mentions nothing about envelopes. From there, you select address block and match the fields. Its not exactly mail merge, because you're not clicking on that or choosing one of those features. If anything, (I just checked mail merge) choose letters under mail merge, and it leaves it as your regular document, and you can go to the page size and change it for your envelopes.Does that make sense?

I couldnt get the envelope size right so I set up a page size the size of the envelope and just centered the return address on the top of that and printed!
