Can someone please give me a brief education about the different kinds of tips I can get? I want to have tips put on my nails tomorrow so that I have a month before the wedding to get used to them. I had tips twice in high school, but not since then, and I'm pretty clueless when it comes to this stuff. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! TIA!

I would suggest Silk NOT Acrylic. They look more like real nails. Also, maybe you should look into the French Tips. Those are very popular for weddings. Good luck!
They have: acrylic, linen, silk, and even I have seen glass.
Are you planning on keeping them on after the wedding?

I also love silk, but they are more delicate than acrylic, so if you are prone to breaking nails, be careful.
Depending on where you go, the acrylics they use now can look very natural. Just tell the tech you want a natural width with a natural taper, and no claws.

Well, I will have them on for the honeymoon at least. After that, probably not, but I'm not sure.b

I think acrylic is the best if you do not want to keep them after the honeymoon. They will definitly hold up for the wedding and honeymoon and they are a little cheaper. It is true that the acrylic can be very natural looking. it all depends on the shape and how they are filed.

Okay, sad to say but I know alot about this.. so hope it helps...
Pros for tips w/silk wrap. Look much more natural, less damage to your own nails. Longer wear, unless you are very active or wash alot of dishes, or have another reason to have your hands in water. The best thing in my opinion is that they really look much better with a french manicure, which is the preferred bridal look. Easier to remove should you want too.
Pros for tips w/ acrylic Cheaper, very durable for more active women, hold up well under water, better choice is your planning to do alot of water sports on the honeymoon. Takes less time to have them applied, and have them filled in.
All is all, having worn both types over extended periods of time, I would go with the tips w/silk wrap. They looked much more natural, especially if you only want a little added length to your own natural nail.

What about just letting your nails grow?

Silk is the best...I have had mine for 2 years...No problems at all! The polish stays on wonderfully too...Every 2 weeks, you need a fill which is $20 at my place...Silk has a tendency of not breaking or chipping too...I do tons of housework & my nails don't look it at all! I highly recommend silk!

I have silk extensions & I love them. I don't keep them super long & I asked them to file them so they were curved a little across the nail bed, not super think & narrow (lining up with my natural nail). Do yourself a favor look at them constantly as they are working on them. Make sure they look good to you & if anything doesn't look right tell them before they finish with the filing.
