For those taking dance lessons..advice

For those taking dance lessons..advice

So FH & I have been taking dance lessons...and the instructor said to..

1.) wear my wedding shoes so i get used to dancing in them

2.) wear a long skirt or dress to get used to moving around with the length & fabric swishing around

I went thru old BM dresses I had...found an old 2 piece one and just wear the skirt which is long & similar to my dress...it sure feels different than dancing in my jeans...just thought i'd share

Thanks for the advise... FH and I have been taking Dance Lessons too. I wear jeans too so it's a good idea to try with a long skirt and my shoes. I do wear heels though.

Who are you taking them with?

LOL!! Mine Too... we're with John from Ballroom Dance LI
It's a lot of fun, but now I'm nervous since so many people know we're taking lessons they're gonna expect us to be good

we are just trying to look normal since he's 6'4' and i'm 5' 0...that alone makes us look awkward!! I'm not aiming for Dancing with the Stars or anything...

We're learning the foxtrot. I think that's the general dance... it's sooo much fun.

That sounds like fun! We're learning the foxtrot for our 1st wedding dance and also Swing and the Hustle for fun. I love getting spun around (as long as FH doesn't drop me).

Thats good advice! I'll probably not do the skirt thing just because I feel weird in skirts and dresses..but I will definitely be practicing in my reception shoes, which will be ballroom dancing hsoes the same height as my ceremony shoes. For the lessons I have been using about a 2in heel, and its alot easier than I thought considering I NEVER wear heels

That is very excellent advice. I am a dancer and a dance teacher. Where I study dance you can also take ballroom lessons and they always tell the bride to dance in the shoes she will be wearing for the wedding.
