For those that are married....

Original post by Danielle623

Did you have any no shows? I had one couple, on my side, not show up. Not even call or at least send a text that they werent coming. Did this happen to you? Do you still talk to that person? Did you ever follow up to see why they never showed? I'm not sure I want to. I am very pissed they didnt come and dont know if I want to talk to them ever again.
Also.....
did people not give you a gift? We had some of those too. Money is hard to come by these days so I fully understand if our guests don't have it but not even a card? Anyone else?

Re: For those that are married....

well let see... considering I am still waiting for these elusive shower gifts that I was told 'were in the mail' by certain members of FH flake family... I am not holding my breath for them on the day of the wedding.. A few of his extended family also said they were attending the shower, and never showed up, and never sent a gift.

So, I will be sure to give our hall at least 6 under our actual count... I am not gonna be made a fool of again...

People really kill me...

Um - I think just two - a guy and his wife...

He was one of my employees - no-showed the wedding, then quit while I was on my HM, so no we haven't talked!

i was SHOCKED but every single person who said they were coming came! I was expecting a few no shows but there were none!

Almost the same for us. My moms best friends husband had to stay home with their son who got sick that day and they didn't want him to stay with a sitter while he wasn't feeling well, so just she came. And Joey's boss was late and didn't bring the guest he said he was.

Re: For those that are married....

Our only no shows were my 2 grandpas who couldnt make it last minute due to health issues. Totally different from yuor situation. We had 2 couples who called a day or two before saying they were sick and wern't sure if they would make it. They both ended up making it. But at least they called to warn us. There was a bad stomach virus going around at that time, so it wasn't anything about them being rude. I was just so happy DH and I didn't get the virus! Actually 2 weeks before 80% of my office was out sick with it! So we were surprised more people didn't cancel!

Re: For those that are married....

we had 5 no shows, one of our gm had a fight with his gf and left her home, a couple that my parents insisted on inviting and a friend of fh's that had just moved back and we invited the week before since we were short on our minimum

we had a couple people not give us gifts or cards or anything and before the wedding, I thought I would be majorly offended- and I wasnt at all- I was really touched by the generosity of the other people and really genuinely happy that the others were there to be with us on our special day... but I can understand other people being offended.

Re: For those that are married....

3 no-shows

1 friends wife was sick
1 friends husband (couldnt make it...long story...not a happy ended)
1 never got on flight (standby)

However 2 of the above did give generous gifts as if their significant other were still there.

We had alot of no gifters...too many to count....still not happy about it...think its pretty rude!

we had 4 no-shows, but we knew they would be since they are notorious that way. We put them all at the same table.

Re: For those that are married....

Yes and Yes. The people who didnt show one had a good reason (death in family) and the other one had work. Um you knew about this for 2 years you should of said I cant work or you couldnt come. As for gifts. A few people did not give us a gift (4). One I am ok with b/c they traveled and paid for that so I told them that is my gift. Also some of the no gifters didnt give us a engagement gift/card or me a shower gift/card. I could understand no gift people did travel for my wedding but come on a card would of been nice!

Thankfully, no. I would hope that if someone was no-show that they'd have a pretty damned good reason!

We had two couples not show up... but we knew ahead of time that they weren't coming. One of DH's friends got stuck in L.A. with his band, and my FIL's good friend & his gf couldn't come b/c the gf got sick at the last minute. One couple sent a gift... one didn't. What can you do!

We didn't have any no-shows... but we did have people calling or texting the week before saying that they couldn't come even though they RSVPd yes. (I give them a bye though... they're going thru a divorce... it's ugly).

Re: For those that are married....

2 couples no show - both at this point have sent a gift, one couple , the girl was sick , the second I haven't heard from but they recently sent something to us.

A few no gifter's at this point ... I have received gifts since I have been home from the HM . Left right now - three on my side , they all have mentioned something about it, one BM informed me via email that she reserves her right to send me a gift up till one year and she is going to reserve it , brought a guest too. The other 2 girls came solo and are broke as broke can be , so it didn't bother me .

Two couples on DH side - 1 co worker and his wife , and another good friend and her b/f, she has said something, the co worker has not . no thank you card for the co worker will be written by me or to the people who did not send at least a card.

Re: For those that are married....

One of DH's friends from HS was a noshow and she RSVPd witha date... We still haven't heard from her as to why she didn't come or any kind of congratulations, im sorry, card, or gift. We had a few others that week who we find out about at the last minute accidents or sicknesses that kept them from coming.

As for no-gifters, this is a complicated thing. One family friend my mother said something to and they said they gave it to us and sent us another one, no big deal. But One family friend just forgot and we're still waiting. One of my co-workers didn't bring anything which I find strange b/c she doesn't seem the type at all. Maybe it got lost, I dont know but I'm not comfortable bringing it up. I wrote the card thanks for coming. One other college friend we're waiting from but not holding our breathe and DH's uncles which is sorta sad but what can you do? FMIL said soemthing to them but we haven't gotten anything.
