Did you have any no shows? I had one couple, on my side, not show up. Not even call or at least send a text that they werent coming. Did this happen to you? Do you still talk to that person? Did you ever follow up to see why they never showed? I'm not sure I want to. I am very pissed they didnt come and dont know if I want to talk to them ever again. Also..... did people not give you a gift? We had some of those too. Money is hard to come by these days so I fully understand if our guests don't have it but not even a card? Anyone else?

Re: For those that are married....
We had a few no-shows. One couple from DH's side and then a few from my side. The one from DH's side still has yet to contact anyone explaining where they were or whatever. At least the ones on my side had another relative there who explained they were sick or whatever.
We did have 1 couple not give us a single thing as a gift. We sent them a thank you card anyway, and all we wrote was, 'Thank you for sharing our special day. We hope you had a nice time.' We figured if they purposely didn't give a gift, then we got a little 'dig' in at them, and if they accidentally didn't give one (like they left the envelope at home or something), then they now know we didn't get it and can do something about it

Re: For those that are married....
I gave the RH under the amount who was to come and I still had some no shows. One guest who RSVP'd he was coming, decided to go camping instead....But, we had people that didn't come, and send very generous gifts. so it worked out in the end.

We only had 1 guest not show up.. but her husband came and explained that she was feeling sick.
As for the gifts.. We had 2 people not give us a gift OR a card.. that was my sister (a BM) and one of DH's friends (a GM). Nice, right?

yes, we had one GM that was a no show (don't get me started), and we had one of DH's aunts who said she was bringing a date and didn't and another one of DH's aunts whose husband couldn't make it.

I am going to do the exact same thing as you with the Thank You to the couples who didnt even give a card. And as for the ones who never came, if they want to contact us, fine but I am not going out of my way to contact them.

This is unfortunately very common...both no-shows and no-gifters. We had two no shows (our neighbors across the street) who had a very good reason and they came over to tell us why later on befor ewe left for HM-one of their mothers had to go to the hospital for emergency surgery. They gave us a gift and a bottle of wine. which was really sweet of them. The no-gifters we had were on my side- she was my friend for over a decade. They came to our RD and wedding from OOT and she kept saying that she was going to send us a gift...we're still waiting I am writing my TYs out now and will send her a card for coming all the way form Va to our wedding, but I haven't been able to call her or contact her. I'm still a little hurt...not even a card? I'm not sure where the friendship will go from here....she did other things that upset me also at my RD and my wedding too So I feel your pain....FM me if you want to talk!!

Re: For those that are married....
I didn't have any no-shows, but a few did cancel a week or 2 before. One couple was pregnant with complications, so we understood. We had a few no gift/no cards. What is so weird -- 2 we unfortunately totally expected, but the others are close friends or family who totally shocked us. One couple, one of my best friends from college, told us they didn't forget us, and we'll be getting something soon. One of my BM's just finished grad school and told me that she will give us a good gift towards the one-year mark. Apparently Oprah once said that you have up to a year to give a gift -- I guess a lot of people listen to her. I did send thank you cards 'Thank you for coming. We are so happy you were able to share our special day with us' to the no gifts -- we actually just finished writing them today.

Re: For those that are married....
We had one no-show the day of and a few drop-outs a day or two before. Once I gave in my final numbers, I just didn't care anymore. I am taking the attitude that they missed out on a fabulous time and it's their loss. I don't really care what excuse they had - by that point it was just plain rude. Will I speak to them again - of course - will I go out of my way to attend any of their special occasions - definitely not!
We also had a few people not give us a gift or a card - this day in age it's shocking. I know money is tight but you can at least spring for a card. Again - just plain rudeness.

Re: For those that are married....
I had not one no show. Two people we expected not to show did, and I really couldn't believe my eyes.
We just went though gifts yesterday, and we are missing some - well not missing but there are about 10 people from which we do not have gifts. Some are still on the way. I think there's about 6 people who we have no idea if they are giving us anything or not - I really don't care. I had a terrific time and so did they and that is all that matters to me. I don't know how anyone could come to a wedding without even a card, but hey, it's their conscience, not mine.

Re: For those that are married....
We had a few no shows...
One didn't come b/c he got into a fight w/ one of my BM's (he's my BM's BF friend, still with me? ) And decided not to come to spite her.
Had another couple not come b/c her bf's aunt died the night before.
And I still don't know why the other person didn't show.
Non of the no-shows called or anything, I reached out to one of them to find out why they didn't come. In time I will reach out to the other noshow's to find out but in the end I feel they missed out on one heck of a party!

Re: For those that are married....
We had about 10 no-shows and about 5 people who weren't invited show up! It basically evened out anyway, and on the day of I honestly didn't care at all! We were also stiffed by several people... You just have to be prepared for these things to happen, but they shouldn't stress you out on the day of.

Re: For those that are married....
We had 10, yep 10 no shows.
Five were from my job...one of the girls was in a bad car acciden that morning and the other girl was her sister and her date...so I understood that one. They called after and came to visit with gifts. The other one...never heard from her again.
One was a sick aunt of my dads. One was a cousin who does this often. one was my dad's boss who had to have emergency surgery.
Of every person who came...we got a gift from. And quite a few who didn't come.
