My sister had a MC a few years ago, and they did not do a D and C, but she wonders still to this day if it would have been a good idea to have one, she said AF was awful for a few months afterwards, she did not know if it would have still been awful if she had had a D and C.
I am so sorry you are going thru this. try to keep your chin up. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Here are some hugs.

I had the D&C because I didn't want to wait to see if I would miscarry or not. After about 2 weeks of KNOWING something was not right, once it was confirmed that there wouldn;t be a baby I wanted to just start over so I had the D&C right after we found out. I didn't experience any discomfort afterwards and the bleeding (from the pregnancy) stopped immediately. It's a personal decision but if you have any questions feel free to FM me.

it all is a personal thing. Do what you feel is right for your body. Discuss it with the doctor and see. Me, personally I had a D&C. I had no bleeding before or after.

I had a D&C because I was not bleeding (only a slight brown discharge). My doctor said it could take up to a month for my body to reject the fetus, and didn't want it to drag on that long. With the D&C the had the 'products of conception' to send to pathology and hopefully, get us some answers as to why it happened. Our follow up appointment is today, so maybe we'll have some answers.

I didnt have a D&C. I cramped and spotted for 4 days before the real bleeding began. It was over in about 10 days, bleeding and all. On a positive note I conceived this baby after I got AF back the next month. If you are ready for that (emotionally) your body should be ready to carry a baby again that soon (physically).

thank you karen....I'm not sure where I am emotionally...I do know that physically...the cramps are god awful. They started as slight cramps last night and are progressively worse today. UGH.

With my 10 week miscarriage I did not need a D &C and choose not to. I did not want the added stress of Anesthsia etc..I just wanted to let it happen naturally and move on the best I could. I got my period about 6 weeks later and I had no problems with it being heavy or anything out of the ordinary.

ETA- I also had BAD cramps more towards the end of the miscarriage then the beginning. This is because your uterus is going back to normal. They will not last too long at all. Take a lot of motrin, it helps with inflammation.

I also wanted to add if you choose not to have a D&C , your Dr. should give you a sonogram at 2 weeks post when the MC started to make absolutly sure everything is good and there is no need for one. That will re-assure you if you choose not to.

I miscarried naturally and did not need a D & C either. It truly is a personal choice

I had the D&C because I couldn't go through a long process. I had not been bleeding and there were no signs of my body miscarrying on its own.
It sounds like you are in the middle of your body miscarrying- so you wouldn't need the D&C, right?
