How did you get them to stand up? I remember someone saying something about dowels, but How did you attach them to the back of the letters?

you know those plate holders? Like if you have a fancy plate that is for display - i think that is what is used?

I tapped in two nails at the bottom of each letter and they stood up fine all night : ).

You can also glue dowel rods, popstical sticks, block of wood, etc to the back
