For those who are paying for most of their wedding
Original post by PP424
What is the proper way of wording for your invitation when you paying for the wedding without hurting anyone's feelings?
I was going to write it 'Together with their parent's....' but FH thought it sounded like our parents were paying for it.
TIA

That's how I felt, but actually was going to use 'Together with our family', but FH had to give me a hard time.

Re: For those who are paying for most of their wedding
OUrs said 'together with their parents' valerie and chris invite you to their wedding..but did not include their names. We didn't want to leave them out altogether. My mom was still offended though.
If I thought more carefully into it, I would have done Valerie...daughter of blah blah and Chris son of blah blah invite you to our wedding. It's more personal to have their names on it somehow i think.
My parents are also divorced and both of them remarried so that would have been a LOT of names. LOL

we just used 'together with their parents'
I probably would have used our parents names but it was a pain. My parents are divorced, father is remarried and mother never changed her name..I just thought it was to confusing. FIL's I think were upset but honestly they are not hosting our wedding so I didnt feel the need to word it like they are

Re: For those who are paying for most of their wedding
my mom is paying for a large portion but we are both from divorced families so we are doing 'together with their families' to save space and we will just by my mom a really nice gift, separate from the 1 she gets at the RD

Re: For those who are paying for most of their wedding
Just did our names, eliminated the parents. It would have been more difficult for me anyway since my parents were divorced and my dad is deceased and I hate his wife and my mom has been remarried for a long time.

Ours say:
Because you have shared in our lives with your friendship and love, we _______________________ and ________________________ invite you to share in the beginning of our new life together as we exchange marriage vows (day/date) at (time) place town, NY Reception following ceremony
(We are getting married at RH)

we are paying for the wedding with no help.....
we did together with their families......
i didnt feel it was necessary to include their names but i didnt want to not acknowledge them at all - plus i just like the way it sounds....i prefer the word families over parents
I did Together with their families as well because FH's parents are both deceased and mine are divorced and Dad is remarried. Too complicated.

This is how we worded ours. We still wanted to include our parents names:
Kathryn Celia V. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert and Betty V. and Christopher Robin K. son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Lillian K. Request the honour of your presence at their marriage on Saturday, the twenty seventh of December two thousand and eight at three thirty o’clock in the afternoon The Community Church of East Williston corner of East Williston Avenue and High Street East Williston, New York
I second this one since FH and I wanted our parents' name on the invitation
