about how much should we expect in closing fees?

Estimate that it's about 5% of the cost of the house.

We paid about $12K at closing.

Depends are purchase price, but ours were around 7K

we paid alomost $16,000. It' s based upon a lot of things, like the amount of the mortgage, property taxes and when you close.

we bought a condo for 272K. A good chunk of folks here spent quite a lot more in closing costs because their purchase price was a lot more.

We put 10% down and had a connection with the title company (who was my friends father) and no atttorney fees (because my dad was our attorney).

Ah! makes sense! Ours were 11K which we thought was pretty low. We got lucky because we bought one of my dad's houses so we knew it was a good house and didn't need to have an engineer, exterminator, or inspector come in. We have bee living on pennies ever since, BUT WE OWN A HOUSE AND ARE LOVING EVERY SECOND OF IT!!!!!!!
