For those who bought dress already, how did you decide?
I am not going for my first wedding gown appt. till 5/10 so spending some time looking at dresses from various designers, etc. I have about 20 I like. That seems like soooo many.
Did you get the dress you loved online? Saw on the rack? the one you did not like till you tried it on? Will the right dress just scream out to me?

Re: For those who bought dress already, how did you decide?
I went to a place w/my sister and tried on about 6 dress. Nothing really jumped out at me. I wasn't sure what style I liked even though I looked at a million dresses. We left there and still wasn't sure what I wanted.
I made an appointment at Adrienne's and tried on another 5 dress dresses. The first dress I tried on there I fell in love with. It was something I never saw before. I kept trying on dresses at my mother's request but then tried on the first dress again. My mom started crying and said 'This is the one!'
For some weird reason, you just know it. If you feel amazing in it, then thats the one.
Good luck!! As soon as I figure out how to post pictures, you will see mine.

i have noticed that everything ive liked online, i didnt like in person... either the material was different or it fell diff on me....
i have done best just by telling them to pull dresses that are mermaid style and going from there...
try on diff styles the first time you go so you see what looks best on you and then if you have time, have them pull only those types of gowns for you... i guess that sounds like common sense but whatever lol

Re: For those who bought dress already, how did you decide?
I bought every magazine, and ripped out pages of dresses I liked. FH also decided to do that, so he ripped out a few pages too. We realized we were pretty much ripping out pics of the same types of dresses. So we went to my wedding dress appointment with about 10 of the pics we liked the most, and lo and behold they had one of them! and that was the dress I bought! And, oh yeah, FH was the one who had actually ripped out that page so the credit for finding the dress actually goes to him!

Re: For those who bought dress already, how did you decide?
I looked online and picked a style I liked, brought a picture, tried on a few similar and wound up with a dress from the same collection, just slightly different from what I'd brought in . . . online, the dress I wound up getting was only shown from the back, and so it didn't catch my attention online, but on me, it was the one . . . and yes, with veil on, I cried . . . .
That was the one!
(I really cried when I found out how much it cost !!! -- but a year to pay it off at no interest, eased the pain)

I only tried on a few dresses, none of which were ones I looked at online. I had loved pickup dresses and i tried on one dress and i looked ridiculous. Then i told them I wanted A line...she brought me a few dresses and i just knew when I put it on. I cried, my mom cried and I didnt want to take it off!

Re: For those who bought dress already, how did you decide?
I tried of a few dresses to see which style I liked on me. Then I researched some dresses online and knew exactly what I wanted. When I recently went dress shopping I just looked around in the store and the girl that was helping me brought this beautiful Maggie Sottero dress to me. It wasn't really what I was looking for (I wanted big poofy cinderella type dress) but I decided to try it on anyways. They didn't have my size in that dress so it was a snug fit but when I looked at myself in the mirror I started to cry a little and I knew it was the one. I just got this feeling like - this is the one! You'll definitely know when you try on dresses which one is the right one for you

Re: For those who bought dress already, how did you decide?
I went to three salons in 2 days. I had looked in a few magazines, but had more of an idea of what I didn't want. I tried on more than several at the first place and the one I ended up buying was like the fourth dress but then I thought/said, this is different, really nice, I like this/that and had it on for longer. I tried it on again before I left.
Throughout the other two salons (a day later) I kept comparing it to that one unintentionally. Then we had to go back to the orginal salon that same day to try it on so I can really know if it was it.
My MOH (sis) and friend said it had to be it, I acted as if it was a part of me, as if it was my dress already! And I lit up when I came out of the dressing room!!
Then I went to another salon (where I ordered) and had to decide between ivory and champagne! (champagne looked fantastic)

Re: For those who bought dress already, how did you decide?
if my mother didnt pick the dress off the rack, i would have never tried it on. i always wanted a tulle skirt and i didn't even blink when i saw my dress hanging. matter of fact, it was the last dress i tried on and my mom started to cry. i looked at myself and it hit me when i looked back at my train. i was like wow. i went home nd couldn't stop staring at myself in pics. when i went to another salon appt for BM dresses the lady asked me about my dress and i told i think i already found it. i told her the style and when she brought it out it was ovr $300 less than in the other salon...so i got it
p.s. sorry for the rant

Re: For those who bought dress already, how did you decide?
I tried on a bunch of dresses. Even if I didn't like them on the hanger, I still tried it on. I initially fell in love with Maggie Sottero's Victoriana, but then I wanted a different bottom, so I ended up getting the capri royale by maggie sottero and I absolutely love it. You will know when you put it on that this is your dress, then everything that you try on after that you will compare to the dress you really like. At least that is what I did.

Re: For those who bought dress already, how did you decide?
I always knew I wanted a ballgown but I tried on different styles as well.
I guess you know when it's the dress. I got this overwhelming feeling when I found my gown, it's like exactly what I pictured myself in when I marry FH and the fact that I got palpitations and a little lightheaded when I saw myself in it

Re: For those who bought dress already, how did you decide?
Honestly, based on the pics of my dress from the website, I would have never picked it. When I went, I just knew I didn't want strapless, and V-neck works best on me (that eliminated about 95% of all dresses)--you just need to try on all different styles and trust the woman helping you.
When you put on 'the one' you just know it's right...not unlike your first kiss with FH

I knew it was ' the one' as soon as I tried it on and then when I came out my mom and aunt both started to cry!

Re: For those who bought dress already, how did you decide?
I started looking online at different designer gowns to see what I liked. Since I like the ballgown look it help me narrow down the designers because not everyone makes those. Then I went to the store that carried my line and began trying them on.
Once, I got an idea of what designer I liked then I didn't look at anyone else.
