I live pretty close to the train station. I'm usually out of the house by 5:30. Not much different than what you do!

ETA: I get up around 4:30 - 4:45

I take the 6:28 from Stony Brook! Sometimes I take the 5:05 if I want to get the the gym by 7:00. I work on Wall Street.

For me, it's not even the time spent *on the train* that bugs me-- that would be about 40 minutes and I really don't find that part stressful. But when you figure in the time it takes to GET to the train station, then waiting for the train, and then the time it takes on the subway, you're probably adding another half hour... THAT is what bugs me.

The other thing that bugs me is leaving the office 10 minutes later than usual at night, but ultimately getting home 45 minutes later because you missed your normal train and had to wait for the next one.

I hate the LIRR and most of the rude riders. I had to sit in a middle seat today (already a bad ride) and the guy inside was sprawled out halfway across my seat and had his giant gym bag across his lap and half of mine. I offered to put it up for him, but he pretended to be asleep. The other guy had his knees up against the back of the seat and was reading a book with his elbows dug into my side. I'm glad these two were comfy! I wasn't and I spend too much time on the LIRR.[/I

It's like I wrote this post myself!! I hate the railroad, Penn Station, and everyone there. On night after my train got taken out of service in Jamaica..good times. I switched to the train they had waiting there for us. So go to sit in the middle of a girl on the end (no problem) and a guy by the window. He did not move even a bit to give me more room. He then proceeded to crank up his headphones so I could hear what they were playing, then even worse he kept tapping his foot to the beat. Lord help me, I tell my DH everyday that one day I am going to flip and start taking people out who annoy me on the train!!!
