When you first started looking for a dress, who went with you? Was it just you and your mother? You and the MOH? ...My mom thinks it should just be me and her, then I managed to convince her to at least let the MOH come too..

Re: For those who have a dress...
I initially went with my mom and MOH. When I went back to go buy the dress though, it was just me and my mom.

Re: For those who have a dress...
I went with my sister in law who is my MOH and her mom, unfortunately I don't have my mother in my life anymore so the next closest person to me is my MOH

When I went dress shopping it was just me and my mom. Then when I found 'the one' I brought my grandma back with us so she could see it too.

Re: For those who have a dress...
First time out, it was my mother and my sister (who is my MOH). second time, and the time i found my dress, i was with my sister again and a friend. the second time around it was much less stressful. going with my mother and sister was a bit of a nightmare; too many opinions and it just wasn't helpful for me. but having my friend come along was great and she was a calming influence.

Re: For those who have a dress...
My sis and friend (substiture mother) came with me. My mom passed away three years ago. That's it. Invite anyone you want to share the experience with and would welcome input from, but too many makes it chaotic.

Re: For those who have a dress...
I went with my mom & FMIL. Both of them help me a lot (esp my FMIL...she has a talent on getting discount)
My advise to for you to take only your mom or MOH, the more people you take, the harder for you to decide.

Re: For those who have a dress...
I went with mom, step-dad, and niece. Boy was it hectic with a 5 year old running around. But she was trying on FG dresses too.

Re: For those who have a dress...
my mom passed away, so i went at first with a friend (BM), then a second time by myself (would NOT recommend going by yourself) and then with my FMIL (she has only 2 boys, no daugthers) -- and the experience for HER was so great and it made ME so happy to try on dresses for her...
like the above posters suggested... too many people might be chaotic... if you know some good hagglers, that would be good too... especially when you start talking alterations $$$...
good luck!!!!

Re: For those who have a dress...
I brought my mom and my MOH. But, my mom has known my MOH since we were 3 so she is like another daughter to her. It was great having them with me!

Re: For those who have a dress...
I had a small entourage. My mom, step-mom, matron of honor and another bridesmaid (childhood best friend) all came with me.
MOH picked out dresses and brought them to the dressing room. Bridesmaid kept my mother at a safe distance (she is a little overbearing at times). And my step-mother took pictures. It was a well oiled machine.

Ok this is good...I need the MOH there to be a middle man lol..My mom is a VERY opinionated person and she drives nuts sometimes.

Re: For those who have a dress...
My mother and my aunt and then my mom and my grandma. I brought my friends once I found my dress. my family is very honest and I needed that. I felt too many opinions would overwhelm me.

This is why I DID NOT go with my Mom - I love her, but she has a tendancy to only see the negative and I didn't want that when going shopping for my gown.
Going with my MOH was a blast and I was totally in tears (happy tears!) more than once
