For those who have a dress...

Original post by dajc23

When you first started looking for a dress, who went with you? Was it just you and your mother? You and the MOH? ...My mom thinks it should just be me and her, then I managed to convince her to at least let the MOH come too..

I took my mom with me a few weeks ago to Bridal Reflections. Next Friday, I am taking my MOH to Amsale, Wedding Atelier and Adriennes in NYC. Once I narrow down my dress choices, I will bring them both to help me decide!

I started on my 11th mark till the wedding. Refused to order anything until it was at 9 months till the wedding.

First day was my mother, my sil, and my fg. It was kinda helpful but it was crowded at times. I even went on a weekday and found that they were just standing around waiting and then when i came out made faces which didn't help.

Second day just my mother - a lot easier

Third day - my mother and my other bridesmaid - she just sat around starring at things and i think she was bored.

Fourth day - myself and honeslty it was the best yet. I told my mom it was nice for me just to do it and not hear comments are this isn't working or that is so amazing but i hated it.

Final day - went back with my mom tried on a few gowns and she was silent for the most part just gave some input such as how things would looked bussled, etc. We went back to the second days dress that i liked but was unsure of since my mom was kinda complaining about it. When i tried it on she said i think you liked it enough and i said yes. We waited a few more months tried it on again along with my second choice and chose the one i loved from that second day. My mom goes i am happy you picked the dress you liked because honestly i really like now that i see it on you again.

So in the end just go yourself or just with your mom. if you want to invite people just make it one more becuase otherwise you are just adding to the choas and stress. I have seen other brides have entire bp and family and they are more concerned on what they like then what you like.

at first it was me and my mom.
then it was just me and my moh
then it was my mom my moh and my sil

and then it was just me and a fellow LIWer who was looking for a dress too.

she and i found my gown together, and then we both went back with my mom to finalize my choice.

it's really up to you who you go with. i know a lot of girls who've gone alone b/c then there's no pressure.

Yea after hearing peoples experiences I'm thinking of keeping it to just either myself and her or both of us and my MOH. At first I was all excited and wanted everyone there..not so sure about that now! lolol

Just my mom... I would have had my MOH come, but she couldn't make it.

You don't want a ton of people - the myriad of opinions will drive you nutty. Seriously!

My MOH came and helped me narrow down until I had a select few - then EVERYONE came and checked out the final picks. Friends, bridal party, my mom, FMIL, aunts on both sides.... you get the idea!

I went with mom, sisters, and one bridesmaid. MOH couldn't make it. Mom was fine just very happy to be included.

I went with just my mom....When my sis (MOH) found out I ordered the dress she was alittle upset that she didn't get to see the dress first......But like I told her, It was the dress of my dreams so we just ordered it....I'm hoping to have pics to show her soon....
