for those who have had their tonsils removed...

Do you still get sore throats??? Like badly? I know my ENT said there would be times when it will hurt me again but maybe not to the point when I had my tonsils in...today isn't such a good day. i feel like crap and the pain in my throat is so bad its giving me a ear ache

every time I passed by this thread on quick glance I thought it said 'for those who have had their TOENAILS removed'!!!!

i had mine removed like 7 or 8 yrs ago. i still get slight sore throats, i have one now actually but it's more scratchy then sore. but i don't get strep anymore. i do however get bronchitis alot. my body was like oh crap where did the tonsils go, what could we attack now!

so yes you can still get sore throats. b/c you're throat is still there, but your tonsils won't get infected/inflamed to make it worse

I didn't have mine removed..but I know you can still get strep throat without tonsils...so be careful. I hope you're feeling better soon!!

Yea my doctors were very hesitant (for like almost 5 years) to take out my tonsils b/c your chances for upper respiratory infections is alot greater. Not to mention my immune system is bad (also going through testing for Lupus ) But since my tonsils have been out i'm feeling alot better. They were removed a year ago and this is the first time my throats bothering me

it was the best thing i ever did. i would get strep like 3 times a month for my entire life. i missed so much school growing up, but my then doctor wouldn't take them out why, i'm not sure

I know the feeling!!! The last few years were HELL for me. All of my vacation time at work was spent at home sick or even in the hospital. Once my tonsils were so badly infected I was hos[italized for 3 days and they STILL were hesitant to remove them. Finally when I went back to the ENT for the 3 time in 3 months with really bad tonsilitus he agreed to remove them. He said they were so badly scared from infection, they should have been removed years before...gee ya think?!!
