For those who have planned a shower

How much did you spend as a BM?
Did the MOB chip in?

I ask cause we are planning my friend's shower and it was going to be around $100 per BM (give or take) and three of the girls are complaining and saying that is outrageous and they can't afford it. I thought that was pretty reasonable.

It is reasonable, give me a break. I had the same problem when planning my sister's shower.

The last one I helped coordinate we spent about $150 each. I thought this was reasonable. Originally the MOB was not helping and she wanted $600 from each girl. We put our foot down on that!

I've seen it all...
-One of the bridal parties I was in we each paid $250 (there were 4 of us) for the place - on top of giving a gift.
-Another bridal party is was $50 each (there were 7 of us) and that was for odds and end things
-The others I haven't had to chip in a dime - the MOB & MOH paid for everything

So it all depends - every bridal party is different. Good luck!

I just attended my best friends shower this past weekend and all the BM's put in $100 her mother wasn't really involved for other reasons but I was fine with that amount. I also spent another $125 on her gift. I think anyone should feel honored to be a BM and after all it's only $$ you can always make more Lol!!

My family does not like to do that because our mother pays for everything (it's all she pays for) and doesn't want to inconvience the BM's anymore

My MOH told me that she was expecting to chop in and has been in weddings where they have to help pay and that has been the average she paid for the other weddings.

It depends on where the BM are from. If they aren't from LI, then they don't understand the cost of things down here. Trust me, moving here 2 years ago was a shock.

For my best friend's shower we all paid $75 and mothers and aunts chipped in their own talents. (Food, DIY projects, etc.) For my shower, my girls paid $68 (it would've been a lot more, but many people couldn't make it) and my mom bought the favors, and my DH's mom bought the decorations.

BTW: These prices didn't include the gift

That is not expensive at all - How much do they think a party should cost? I don't remeber how much i had the bp chip in for my friend's wedding - i was moh - but it was more that hundred plus chipping in for the gift.

I was my sister's MOH and I paid for the resteraunt ($$$$$$) and a gift. Her other BM paid for favors and decorations and a gift.

$100 is very good, especially if it's at a restaurant.

Think $25pp for say 30 people...that's $750 right there, then add tax, gratuity, invitations, favors, decorations, gifts.... You'd need a heck of a lot of BM's to make it only $100 per BM!

UGH That is why I am getting so upset. I really don't think 100 is unreasonable and they are acting like me and the MOH are biatches for asking for that much. One of the girls is from Queens, one from Suffolk and one from DC - so really they should know how much things cost.

ETA: We are expecting 50 people so that is a good amount!

are those girls crazy really 100 pp is a great price tell them to go shop around.. after a few drinks tell the bride how cheap her friends are.. kidding

100 is so sosososo good. MY BMs paid $350 each for my bridal shower this past weekend. 100 per BM is great considering it will be in NY.

$100 is definitely reasonable. i've contributed anywhere from $200 to almost $400 for showers. the MOB may offer to help but if she doesn't, i wouldn't expect anything.

Only $100 !!!! I have done 3 Showers and I know I have spent hundreds!!!!!! But I love my girls and I worked it out so I could afford it!

Me too!!! My MOH (sis) asked the girls for 85 each since my mom is paying for the shower- I guess that is why no one complained and sounded very happy when my sis asked for it!! 100 is very reasonable!!

For my cousins 3 weeks ago, betweens the BP and MOB, it came to about $120 per person, I spent some extra money, MOB spent some extra money to buy little plants for the tables and her FSIL did separate favors of her own, chocolate umbrellas (dont ask why she felt she needed to do separate favors, we bumped heads a lot and ended up not uttering more than 10 words to each other at the shower, the bach party should be fun with her!)
We didnt do a combined BP shower gift, some girls were on a very tight budget and couldnt afford to do what others wanted to do...
