What in your opinion (or if you are already married, your experience) will really 'change' after you get married if you already have a home together, joint checking acct, maybe even kids together or stepkids, etc...

The biggest change I think is more spiritual than anything. We will then share the same name and be a family. I know it's cheesey but that is how I feel. The wedding and being married is a statement about our feelings and our relationship. I am SUCH a cornball!!

Well, we have been living together for almost 3 years in July- and we bought a house this past summer- and we do not have children...and wont for a while...
What I think is going to change is the fact that my fh got a new job- a wonderful one but it means traveling all over every 4 months... I will be going with him, which means he will be supporting us, our family- me him and the puppy for two years while he does this. It does mean sacraficing but the end product will be worth it.

EXACTLY. FMIL said the other day 'I guess not much will change after the wedding' I was like, nope not really. It's about being able to say that you've committed your life to the other and of course, not pretending that we don't, um, well, you know....get naked.

We don't see much changing either, until we are ready to buy a house. Then our neighborhood changes, along with relationships with family since we will be living closer to my sister and parents and expect to be able to see them a lot more than now.
Once the house is settled, we want to travel outside the US once a year. It's one of those things that we're waiting on because there are better things to spend $ on.
Other than that, we don't see much changing. It's kind of a comforting thought. Settling into adulthood.

We still don't share a checking account so I think that will be the biggest change. It will also take me a while to get used to my new name.

I have been married for 17 days and although we lived together for 2 years before we got married, I definitely feel different. I do not know how to explain it except to say that it feels more 'real' now. I hope that makes sense. We also have consolidated our finances into one bank account which we did not have before marriage. HTH

We had separate bedrooms. So now we're trying to get used to sleeping together.

This thread is cracking me up... I think the biggest change will be the bank accounts. We've been living together almost 2 years and own our own house. I like that my receptionist will say 'Your husband is on the phone...'

I don't think that much will change for us. We've been living together for a year and a half. We already have a joint account, although that's new and I'm still trying to teach him to write down when he uses the card (). We also had gotten into the habit of calling each other 'husband' and 'wife,' although I put a stop to that this weekend, because I want to wait until after the wedding when it's official, now that it's so close. Honestly, I don't want things to change too much, they're great the way they are.

I agree with this 100% ...We have a 4 year old Daughter together, I feel like everything will be complete..Marriage was the only missing piece in our puzzle.

When we told FH's grandmother that we were going to live in sin, she said 'oh? Where is that?'

Oh my gosh!!! that's sooooo funny.
I also can't wait to say 'my husband' or 'I am his wife'.....'this is his fiance' doesn't carry the same weight when you call his office. that and i want to be able to kiss him whenever i want to.......oh no, i've said tooo much, cover your screen girls.....yes, you have to kiss them, too!!!
this thread has just made my day for it's humor and yet seriousness all at once.

I agree. It's hard to describe, but we're both happier and feel more settled/secure. It feels more like we're a family. It's definitely better.
