Well, the plan for FH and I is to get a mother-daughter house with my parents because it would be the best financial move that we can think of for us and for them. So, we won't be technically all on our own if that works out. I wish we could move out into our own place but we have to try to save some $. I went away to college my first year so I have been out of my house. Also, FH and I have spent so much time at each other's houses, sleeping over, spending weekends, etc. We have also gone on a few vacations together. I know people say it's not the same as living together but I think we will adjust just fine.

Re: For those who still live home.....
I can't wait to move out!! I've been back home since I graduated from college in 2005. It helped me save a lot of money but as soon as the wedding gets a little closer I'm going to start looking for a place.

when we do buy a house next year i told fh that we're not moving more than 10-15 mins from my house...baby steps lol
So funny! FH & I have a home already & we are only 20 min from both of our parents homes! lol I didnt move out after college but FH pretty much did. He has owned a home since he is 25. So he has been out alot longer than I have. We want to buy another home soon (and rent out the one we are in now) we are looking about 5 min from both of our parents homes! CRAZY!

Re: For those who still live home.....
I moved out for five year and have just recently moved back in... I can't believe how much I like being around my family! I used to be itching to get out... now I really enjoy the company as opposed to living by myself.
I have mixed feelings about this. I can't wait to have my own things, as well as be alone with my FH. I never paid rent/mortgage, so I am freaking out.

Re: For those who still live home.....
I had to move out in baby steps cause my father couldn't bare to let me go. I was ready to leave the nest as soon as I graduated high school. So i applied to colleges all outside of NY state. I went away to college, lived abroad for 6 months in England (that was the best time of my life...) and when I graduated I came back home... since I stepped back into the house i was itching to move out... so I moved in with my friend for a year because I knew my father would freak if I moved in with FH... after one year of living with roommates I moved in with FH... that was two years ago.
It can be nervewrecking moving out... but at the same time you will come to enjoy having the freedom to call things your own... like I hate cooking at my mother's house because its not my kitchen.
I have a close relationship with my family and it will continue... but I LOVE my own space.

Re: For those who still live home.....
As much as I am looking forward to living with FH, I am very attached to my parents and living here with them. What is going to be hard though is when I move out, I am moving to VA where FH is now. So I'll be going from living with my parents to being 7 hours away from them. No baby steps in between. Never went away to college. But I can't wait to own a home and decorate it according to FH and I's style. FH has been on his own for the past 3 years and his dad didn't kick him out... but politely said he'd prefer if FH got his own place. So our situations are much different which is why FH is getting a little impatient and wants me down there with him asap... I don't know. I'm nervous about finding a new job and starting over.

kinda sorta... just because i have no money to my name... so not sure how we're gonna [pay for it all
It IS a scary thing - but you will just make it work. As long as you are responsible - always pay your bills on time and watch what you are spending your money on you will be fine.
I moved out but I don't live with FH and it was the best thing I ever did. I live with my (younger) sister and I feel so independent - I know how to do things by myself if I need to. I love having that freedom. And I am concerned about money and those types of things but you roll with the punches.
I'm the most scard about having FH come to live with me. He's a slob He has NEVER left the nest before and his mom is going to be crazy and we DO only live like 5 minutes away from her - She will be here ALL the time!
I thought my parents would be but they aren't - thank goodness.
